Default rear lights (red on top) or (amber on top)

Is it correct to have the rear tail/stop lights with red on top or amber on top?????
Or does it not matter? I've seen it done both ways.

Not sure which is "correct" but mine has the amber on top.

Edit: In my case anyway this is the Classic Roadster set up.
I checked when I got home and my initial post was incorrect.
So much for memories!

CSX3288 at SAAC31
I think this car is untouched thus correct........
Looks to have red top and bottom with the bottom being flat faced and the top being pointed a bit?

"more correct" is to have no amber, like Jeff showed.

"absolutely correct" is for the bottom one not to be a light, but a reflector.

This is "absolutely correct" for later CSX coil spring cars, COX coil spring cars would have two lights with the amber light normally on top. (see COX6111 for reference)

The reflector is a Lucas RER 31 and is dead nuts correct for a street car or anything I believe CSX 3200 and up.

European and british laws required amber turn signals and red stoplights, so COB and COX cars had the amber lights. US version CSX 427 Cobras only needed one red light for both turn signal and stoplight. The bottom one on CSX 3288 (pictured above) is indeed a reflector, as described.
