Question Brake Light Switch?

To make a long story short, Dad bought the kit, worked on it while then stopped, gave it to me. I know have a rolling chassis(9 years later), like the one at the end of chapter 3. Been cruising around the front yard with it like this to make sure everything is working. Just about to drop the body on, in doing this making sure all wires are routed correctly. while doing this I got to thinking about the brake lights and that I didnt have a brake light switch installed. I went to do this little task. OK Now call me stupid or blind , but were does it go? I see nothing on the pedal group to install the switch, looked in the bible, it says nothing about a switch in pre-assembly or installation to firewall. I looked in the wiring section, it says to refer to the pre-assembly. I dont get it, please help . Maybe a picture or something, since we all know how wonderful the pictures are in the bible LOL.

One more question. How long is the speed-o-cable suppose to be with a T-5?

You could use a pressure activated one from Pegasus. They have a site.

Just splice it into the front brake lines and your set.

Default NAPA switch part number

Don Scott sent me NAPA part number SL-169 for my CRII.

Below is a photo of mounted switch. Hard to see, but he switch has a metal flange that goes on the pin of the brake pedal BEFORE the spherical rod end (which screws on to the brake booster rod). I think the pivot bolt for the pedal has to go in last to permit assembly. Real fuzzy on remembering, exactly.
The "slop" or "play" in the fit of the spherical rod end and the pin on the brake pedal provides the movement to actuate the brake switch. Having the switch in your hand would make it easier to understand how it mounts and functions.

that sounds like the same one I had. I have yet to get the car in a position where I can take a picture with a back brace one.. Soon.

Thanks TWOOD. I dont care what you say that pic is wonderful compared to the black and white crap Ive been looking at for years. And OFM, if you have a brace on you shouldnt even think about taking a picture like that.

OFM,
May I ask what is the third wire (purple) for? Actually, by the picture it almost looks like the white would be the #3 wire?

These are available as mentioned at NAPA, or many automotive stores. Ford still carries them for mid '60's on up too.

The use of a hydraulic pressure switch is -OK- but they are very prone to failures. We use those mostly in building our Street rods.

I will have go back out there an crawl in and look.. Once my coffee kicks in I happily will.

FYI.. I used to have pedal pads but the damn things keep falling off so I run without them. I kind of like it that way.. I may have to weld beads on them instead for grip..

Oh it was no big deal.. the cars up to my head level almost.

Now I remember where that wire goes. Since both sets of lights on the back have two circuits I used the second circuit in the yellow lights to come on when you hit the brakes. It's just a splitter on the switch and then the second wire run to that circuit. Makes for a bright and attention getting braking. Can you tell I have been rear ended a few times, 7 to be exact.

I will try the weather strip idea.. I had mustang cobra pads on there but they don't fit quite right.
