Just checking in..
I purchased a BackDraft Cobra from a friend a few months ago and it's been a blast so far. I was working on another project so the Cobra was my release when I tired of working on my other project.
It needs some TLC, I pulled the oil pan the other day because it was leaking badly. Did a compression check and leakdown 200 psi and less than 5% respectively so the motor is in good shape. There was no PCV setup so I think that crankcase pressures were causing part of the pan leaking problem. I ordered some parts to resolve that and they should be here today or tomorrow.
It looks like I need to order the E36 mounting bracket that someone posted up as I already broke the diff bolt once. That bracket should take care of that though.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. The Cobra is a beast raw and uncut and hands down turns any stop into a 10 minute Q&A session. The Vette is my keeper I'm almost done with the restoration on it and the Cobra has helped me keep my sanity to have a sports car to drive. The two are so remarkably different yet so much fun. The Vette is back together and now the Cobra is on jackstands for about two weeks to get it all cleaned up from the previous owner's usage. It brings a smile on my face every time I fire it up!

Well it had to do with who ever built the motor didn't clay the piston to valve relief's and advanced the cam 4*. I was able to salvage the block, crank, rods, heads and that is about it. All new with a hydraulic cam. I'm almost to the point that I can put it back in. I just need to figure out the pilot bearing and I'll be good to go..

Back on the road! Spent today cleaning the ole girl up. She looks like a new penny now. I've got about 100 miles on the new motor and all is good!
