G'day from New Zealand
After 20 years of procrastination and dreaming I have finally decided scratch a long term itch and begin my cobra building journey. After much contemplation I have decided to head down the scratch built path. Why? For the challenge! I realise I could get a car quicker, more easily, and cheaper as a kit, but I like the idea of scratch built. I am also looking forward to spending some quality time in the workshop with my young boys - I am determined that they will grow up knowing how to use a spanner!
So as soon as the plans arrive and I can figure how to hide some 4" tubing from the missus, I'll be away.
Cheers,
Marc

Good lad, you have a couple of clever locals to help you out depending on which Island is home. Now you've introduced yerself git yer arse over to the scratchbuilders forum and start reading and asking questions. Cheers mate.

Kia Ora Mate! I've had the in-laws staying for the past few days - so I've spent pleeeeeenty of time tucked away reading the scratchbuilders. I'm in Welly, so I've spent enough time hassling Almac cars - I like their product, but I like the idea of spending (a long) time turning a pile of tubing into a car more....
Hey - I like your work - it seems you are a good man to know
Cheers,
Marc

We'll claim the pavlova and you can have Russell Crowe back...
Good luck with the build, Marc. Scratch built is the ballsy option to take, but I don't suppose anything could beat the satisfaction of knowing you'd done it all yourself.

G'day from New Zealand
I am down in Ashburton, NZ, welcome to CC.
Have built 2 Almacs, also owned the Gulf coloured Almac BBC car Bevan in Wellington has.
Now building a UK RamSC with scratch built IRS etc for mainly racing and some road use. The Almac is a great kit and the guys there did a good job getting the body shape from photos. The Ram car is a lot more like an original with much narrower radiator opening and tailights are 4" closer together which gives the rear guards more shape and curve, but having imported this body I have had to get a major twist out of it and other issues which have resulted in practically years of work, good luck with your mission!

Welcome, I am sure there are enough members here to answer most of your questions.
Scratch the itch or was there an itch to scratch?
And Russel Crowe is okay by us ( the actor, not Craig's brother-in-law).

I think Almac/Graham Berry were one of the first repro companies on the market with Cobras. Kinda like that Richard Pearse fella. http://www.ctie.monash.edu.au/hargrave/pearse1.html
The Kiwis are coming out of the bush now. There's only 2 members in the Almac club on here I think.

I thought there were enough sheep over there to keep you guys entertained without having to build cars. Just kidding.
Welcome to the forum. It might worth considering a holiday over to Australia when the Nationals are on to see some more cars.

20;1 sheep to people, every one gets a harem. I miss my old girlfriend Baaaahbara.NZ= men are men and sheep are nervous, Oz sheep are just used to it. Kiwi catches Aussie going at it with sheep, "Maaate, where I'm from we shear those?" Ozzie bloke never breaks rythm. "This ones mine and I'm not sharing it with anyone". I gotta stop.
Huge rivalry at home, best of mates overseas, right lads?

Got to hand it to you Kiwis! You guys are the homebuilt kings. Have been following a couple of Kiwi scratchbuilds of GT40's over on that forum. Impressive fabricating skills. Are you all students of Burt Munro?

Have you noticed how many of them were on the team back in the day. I think I should start another thread on that.
