New member in Arizona

Hi:

New member here. Joining to learn about the hobby and perhaps purchase a Cobra replica in the near future. Was originally thinking about building my own Anglo-American hybrid (Healey-Ford thoughts...), but I'm probably in need of greater instant gratification than going down the custom / hot rodding route. I'm a former road racer (SCCA and IMSA) and currently a marketing exec who just relocated to Arizona from NYC.

The Cobra that would interest me most is a 289 small body car with greater emphasis on handling and chassis rigidity and braking than drag racing (there's the former road racer coming out) and I'd prefer an IRS. I haven't noticed many 289-body kits/replicas out there, though. Don't want to spend a fortune, too (gotta pay for kids' college someday).

First you are in the middle of one of the greatest Cobra communities, er, support groups, in the country. Check out the Arizona Cobras group in the regional area.

Welcome to sunny Arizona. I like the ERA 289's but I am a bit biased since I have a ERA 289 FIA. If you go to erareplicas.com you will find a great deal of information on the ERA cars. Kirkham, Superformance and Unique Motorcars also make nice 289's. They all have web sites with good information too.
