Hello from Mo
Hello everyone. Ive been lurking for a while now,, great site so I figured I would sign up. Ive been researching the 289 fia cars, and the different manufacturers. It seems that I keep going back to ERA, as it seems to meet what I am looking for in a replica.
Have built a few pre war hot rods in the last 10 years, so I know my way around creeky, smelly, leaky, ill mannered autos. I think the Cobra would be a step up. Lol.

Been looking at 289 FIAs also. ERA appears to have the most accurate and is certainly a fine replica. Your other choices would be Superformance and Unique. There is a thread here from 2006 that does a great comparison to the Unique and ERA 289 FIA cars. SPF did not have their 289 car out at that time, if I'm not mistaken, so it's not in that comparison.

Crash yes Ive been looking at all 3. I like that the SPF uses the transverse spring suspension like the originals, but its a bit ok alot out of my price range right now. The Unique doesnt seem to have the substanstial chassis that ERA has. All are good looking cars.

Thanks for the pics PV. That looks fantastic. I believe I will be going the 2x4 or 3x2 route initially. I will be using the 289 and the toploader out of my 65 Mustang race project.

He may still have his intake and carbs if you're interested. We have two ERA 289 FIA cars in our club and I think two ERA 427 cars. You're not that far away. If you want to come to St. Louis some time, we meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month in Chesterfield.
