Default Mike's Needing Help!

Hey everyone,

new to the forum...

My fiances dad owns a shelby cobra excalibur that he bought new when they made them... Great car! all-time one of my favorites!

He is having trouble researching on what brakes the car actually takes...

He has had it into several mechanics however no one can come up with an exact part number for his car...

Does anyone know what brake pads/rotors he needs? I heard somewhere they are from a chevy corvette C4...? Doesnt match up in my mind seeing how its technically a "ford" with chevy parts... but it is a kit car so anything goes...

Does anyone know where I can purchase a manual for the car as well? I have googled and googled but no luck!

Thanks everyone!

Mike,
I have collected posts on the Excalibur for several years as an owner and "inherited" info from others as well. I can not swear any of what I have about the brakes is true, but it likely is and would be worth checking out:
Front brakes ~'79 Granada, 5 lug, 11 inch, Rotor Bendix 141086, pads Bendix D-15.

Rear brakes may or may not vary depending on if it is a 9 inch or 8.8 rear end. If it is an 8.8, the rear end was probably sourced as a complete assembly (brakes included) from an early 90's Lincoln Mark VII. I have the rotor as Bendix 141527 and the pads as Bendix D-347. The 9 inch may or may not use the same brakes. They are Ford and might also be sourced from either a late 80"s T-Bird Turbo coupe or an 84-86 Mustang SVO. I found Ford part numbers for rear calipers on an Excalibur part pick list showing part numbers as F4ZZ-2552-A (rt) and F4ZZ-2553-A (lf) and the rear rotor as F4ZZ-2C026-A. I don't know if these were for the 9 inch or 8.8. They were listed as separate parts so they might have been for the 9 inch which likely had the brakes installed after the rear housings were received from Currie.

When you unravel the possibilities, post it up and I'll add it to our knowledge base.

If you'd like the info I have, send me an email to mduke8 at gmail.com and I send it along. I also have a registry of sorts for the cars and can send that as well. Info on the VIN and description (colors, stripes, mileage, year, location, mods, etc. would be most appreciated.

Mike
