Finally!!
I have waited almost 20 years to be able to make this post, but after some wheeling and dealing over the last few days I am now the proud owner of an ERA 289 Cobra. The car was built in 2008, currently has just shy of 4000 miles on it, and for all I can tell is in immaculate condition.
Many thanks to Saleen09, a fellow cobras enthusiast who answered the call to inspect the car for me (the car is in Washington, I live in Virginia). He did an amazing job looking at the car, and helping me get a great price on it as well.
Still have to work out the logistics of getting it from Seattle area to eastern Virginia so any advice on shipping companies is appreciated.
I will post a pic or 2, and promise to post many more once the car is safely in my hands.
Best Regards,
Byron

Byron,
Congratulations!!! It is about time. Do a search for car shippers on this forum and you should get a few hits. From my experience of shipping my ERA to Texas when it was old, make sure that the shipper states that where you live and the car is are on their regular route. My ERA sat in my garage for about five weeks after the sale as the original shipper hired by the buyer fired the first driver who was supposed to pickup the car the week after the sale and then could not reschedule because I was not on their regular route. The buyer eventually went with a second shipper who was able to get here in a week. The second sniper was a local shipper to him and did a fine job.
Can't wait to see the pictures.
JIm

I have used both FexEx Custom Critical and Inter City Lines to ship a Cobra across the country. Both companies were very professional and deliver the car on time and in great shape. If they were both the same cost and I had to make a choice it would be Inter City because of the quality of the rig. Nothing wrong with the FedEx setup but the Inter City rig was outstanding. Congratulations and have fun with your new toy.

Thanks Texas Snake for the kind words and advice. I am starting to discover that shipping brokers are more cut throat and aggressive than used car salesman.

There are a couple of pics of the car in in my first post. Don't have any personal ones yet as the car is out of state, and I have not personally laid eyes or camera on it. I will post a few more from the dealer that took them. I promise a ton of pics once I get the car into my own hands.

Sorry that was only one other picture, my computer is giving me fits, I will try again. As for some details on the car. It was registered in 2008, only has 3912 miles on it, has a smelling performance 347 stroker with about 425 horsepower. I know that is not a lot for the big block guys out there, but should be more than enough to keep me entertained. I really fell in love with the solid color, and I am a sucker for the small block FIA cars. Of course the fact that it is an ERA car made the decision so much easier.
Best Regards,
Byron

I noticed my mistake on the name of course after I submitted the post. You are indeed correct Sir, it is a Smeding crate motor. I am sure however that it smells amazing

Good luck finding a quality carrier to handle the shipping of your new toy. I know that it can be expensive to ship a car across the country but it is worth the money to use a company that has expertise is shipping these type of vehicles. I know that FedEx and InterCity deliver a lot of cars for the large auction sites like Barrett-Jackson and really know what they are doing with these type of vehicles. I also know from experience it can be a case of logistics for the carriers as they want to maximize their load and minimize the miles. Again, good luck and I hope you enjoy your car.

Thanks Texas Snake,
It looks like I will be going with PLY Car to transport it for me. They were very professional in answering all of my questions, have a solid reputation on all the car sites I have visited, and came highly recommended from a friend of mine. I will certainly post more when the car arrives, and share my experience. Looking at end of May for delivery, I am so excited.

Thanks 1795,
Your build has certainly been an inspiration for me to finally pull the trigger. Can't wait to see a picture of you driving your car as well.

I moved back to Washington state four years ago and had my Cobra as well as a 1947 Chevy Hot Rod truck shipped from Kentucky to Gig harbor (southwest of Tacoma) by Parkway Auto Transport. Both vehicles cost me $3500.00 (Enclosed truck). The truck and driver were both top notch and the transit time was four days. I used Intercity in the past to have the Cobra shipped from the east coast to Texas, but when I contacted them, they said they didn't run up to Washington state. I do see a lot of Reliable's trucks in the area.
I found Parkway through Door to Door Transport, a broker who deals in auto transport. I would highly recommend both Parkway and Door to Door.

Car got picked up on Friday in Washington state by Plycar transporters. Should be in my anxiously awaiting hands by the end of June. I am so excited I can barely contain myself.

Byron,
Nice to hear that it is on it's way. June is not that far away.
