Default Not a Cobra.......

Hey all, joined last year, just never got a chance to post.
I don't have a Cobra, but my Pantera has a 427 side oiler with tunnel port heads and intake.
Joined here to gain more info on my motor and what I might have option wise for modifications.
Just thought I'd finaly say "Hey!".......... Ummmm..... Hey all.
Here's a picture of my baby:

Default Pantera

Nice looking Pantera - welcome to the group! Nice contrast with the big Bronco, too.

I had a Pantera for a dozen years. Had a lot of fun with it - put a BOSS 351 in it, Webers, 10" Campys,
a full roll-cage with swing-out side impact bars, lowered it, and polished the wheels and transaxle.

It was a fun car, but I still longed for an open ride.

Sold the car, kept the engine, and put it into my ERA 289 FIA roadster. Wish I could have kept the Pantera
(and the GT500 convertible, and three '66 GT350's I used to have), but, just couldn't keep them all.

Welcome aboard - lots of great guys (and gals) hang out here, with quite a bit of knowledge.

regards,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,
Nice Pantera you had, gotta love toys.
If I ever sell the Pantera(doubtful) the motor stays, got a couple cars I'd like to put it in.
Thanks for the welcome, back to lurking.

Nice ride. Do you have any pics of the motor in your car? I also have a tunnel port 427 in my cobra. Motor was stroked, and we used old school iron heads. Dove makes some alum. heads, but the quality of these reproductions can be hit or miss.

Wish I could take credit for building it.
10.5/1, built and plumbed for nitros. Dyno sheets I got with the car show just under 500 to the wheels without the nitros. On the bottle it's supposed to make 725+ hp on 108 octane.
Putts around on 93 just fine though.
From what I can gather, I'm limited by the tunnel port heads as far as induction choices go, the dual 4's work fine, just realy like the Webber set-ups I keep seeing. (Induction envy?)

Forum doesn't want to let me post a message for some reason?
Trying again.

10 1/2 to 1, runs on 92 octane just fine, needs 108 if you plan to use the nitros system.
(the little red button taunts me every time I drive the car. )

Interesting slant on getting more power into a Pantera. . I bought a very low mileage, yellow '72 the week after we sold CSX3121. There is a pic of it along with my then twenty-something wife in my gallery. Even after Boss 351 heads, headers and a few other tweaks, the car felt sluggish after the Cobra. I never thought of an FE transplant, but that probably would have solved my need for rubber smoke.

Yeah, the FE transplant deff. makes for a fun ride.
My 1972 Pantera with 427 Side Oiler

Pantera Performance did the conversion, one of about 8 that they did from what I can find.
Had to move the trans-axle back about 3" to compensate for the length of the 427.

This doesn't change the angle of the half shafts enough to matter, everything else fits fine.
