Default New Guy from Metro NYC

greetings fellow cobra fans-
i just joined today. i own a black hi-tech 65 replica. It has a 358 nascar motor that turns out close to 700HP. jericho trany and Ford 9in IRS. The motor has fuel injection, so it's streetable...barely. Bill Andrews at HRE works on the car. I've had it on Lime Rock a few times, and plan to take it to Etown for some drag time this summer. I also take it to car shows with my 5-yr old son. If any metro NYers are out there, it would be great to hear from you.
thanks
vince

Welcome Vince- I'm not really Metro NYC, but 70 miles up the Taconic and about 15 miles from Lime Rock. Your car sounds like a beast!

i know Millerton well...an old boss has a house there, and i drive through it on my way to LRP several times a year. given your tag, i assume you're a racer...do you belong to any track clubs? is your car on the street, or just for track?
thnx

Welcome. I am running a 358 NASCAR engine as well. I detuned it for the street.

Don't know if you have been coming by and just decided to join or this is your first time on CC, but we have a large garthering in Ohio in late June...if you are up to it.

Check London Cobra Show - The Ohio Cobra Club ( I hope I spelled it right )

Default Welcome to the club

hitechv Welcome to the club. Not sure how far you like to drive but You have the carliles kitcar show in the middle of may. June first weekend you can go to either the Ford show in PA, get there very early. There is also a very nice cobra reunion at Washingtons cross park on the Delaware river. They have a picnic and go for a drive and endup at a dinner for the evening about 50 cobra go each year. Alot of the guys are from NJ,NY, and eastern PA. Look under the TRI-STATE forum for the info. They have great pork sandwiches. You can find an event just about every weekend in the summer. Again welcome. Rick L.

Vince:
There are a couple of good cruise nights in Connecticut you should try to to got to. Marcus Dairy (Route 7, Danbury) has a cruise every Saturday night and there is a cruise in Monroe (off route 25) every Friday night. Both of these guys would be easy to get to for you. Many shows are listed in Bargain News - Connecticut Used Cars for Sale and CT Classified Ads under "Special Interest Vehicles" under "Best Shows". I would love to see your car some night.

There is also a big group of Cobra Guys on Long Island. Bill at HRE could point you toward them. I take my Snake over on the Ferry just to ride around with those guys.

Bob

thanks Bob. I frwquently go to the Marcus dairy on Saturdays; we should defintely hook up. I usually take my 5 yr old son, who's obsessed with cars...i wonder why! Not familiar with the Friday event, will defintely check it out. Once April hits i'm on the street, feel free to drop me a line if you're heading to an area event.
thanks

That sounds great. Is it every Sunday? Where do folks meet, and at what time? Bill Andrews mentioned a Sunday AM weekly car show at Cap Tree state park (i think)...is this it, or different?
thanks

Thumbs up Welcome

Hi Hitecv,

Just joined a few days ahead of you. Sounds like a fantastic engine combination you've got there.
I'm about 45 minutes north of you. I'm building a Factory Five roadster currently. Should drop in my supercharged 5.0L this spring.
Hope to catch you at one of the car shows. I try to catch the car show at Bear Mountain Park in Rockland as well.

Art

Vince,
Besides Markus in Danbury stop in at Calf Pasture (about three shows each summer put on by the Coachman Club) in Norwalk. Six Cobra's showed up at one show last summer. A good time was had by all. There are plenty of Cobra just up the street from you in SW CT. Four Cobra's in Rowayton, one in Darien, two or three more in Stamford, at least three in Greenwich plus several more in the Danbury and Redding area. When the ice goes the Cobra knows.

Vince-

Yes I raced for 16 years, mostly open wheel, formula car stuff, finished up in the Indy Lights series driving for Walker Racing. My car is a street car, but I plan to do some open track events with it, Watkins Glen for sure, maybe Lime Rock since it is so close.
