Smile New in NJ

Just joined this forum after talking to some people about my interest in finding out more about the Cobras that are available out there. I have always been interested in Cobras since I was a little kid, and am out to find out as much as I can about the replica market. I'm looking to buy within 6 to 12 months.

I've read about the issues regarding getting one registered/inspected in NJ, and while it sounds somewhat painful, doesn't seem insurmountable.

Hopefully some of the members can fill me in on why they went with the manufacturer they did, and if they had to do it all over again, what they would do differently.

What makes some of the manufacturers a better value than the others? Value and reliability are more important to me than price; that said, it would be easier for me to do $50k than $100k.

Also, living in NJ, how does someone go about buying one, etc?

I'm looking to get one that is already set to go; I know I'd love to build it myself, but realistically don't have the time.

Anything else I missed?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Ray

Ray,

You might try sending Bill, (MrMustang) a PM or E-mail as he is pretty much up on the laws back there. hey change so much from state to state is it hard for a person in one state to really answer a question about registration in another state.

As for the rest I had a Classic Roadster and loved it, but they are not built to the original specs. If money is no object then Kirkham or a Shelby would be my choice so far as value goes. ERA is also a very good replica and is built very close to the originals.

You might try looking on Cobra country if you haven't already and also the For Sale adds here. Best of luck on finding what you want. And welcome to the club.

Ron

Welcome
I live 10 minutes from the GWB, if you are nearby, come by and I can give you a ride in a Everett-Morrison.

Princeton is not that far from Washington's Crossing. You might want to check out the Cobra Revolution this Saturday in PA. It sounds like there will be a good turn out, with lots of Cobras too see. I'd post a link for it here, but don't know how. Do a search for "Cobra Revolution" for more info.

Thanks for the tip - I'm going to try to get out of my commitment for the day and get down there as it's not too far from me!

Don't miss it Ray. If you are in the market it is going to be the best opportunity you have so close to see a lot and get the best unfiltered opinions.
