It's an honor to be a new inductee to this club. Looking forward to the members wisdom when it comes to questions with my new Cobra. I live in Massachusetts and I was curious what I can expect when I go to the inspection station with a Cobra titled as a 2002? Also, Mass requires a plate on the front and back, so are there any tricks to eliminating the front requirement? Thanks. -Christyair
christyair Welcome to the party. As far as helping you with your inspection on your cobra, You would have to ask who ever is inspecting it that the originals didn't come with front plates from the factory. Ask if they will excempt you from this issue. You will carry the plate in the trunk. Here comes the fun part if they don't. Do you have an oil cooler in the front of the car, it's under the opening for the radiator? If not, they sell a flip out front plate holder, that lays flat and pops up with the flick on a switch. Guys used them on custom cars and trucks, Guessing they are about $120.00. You can drive the cops nuts with this. Cop; Maam your front plate is missing, You; let me see, It's there big as day?Cop I guess I missed it, Have a nice day, sorry for the stop. ( scratches head and walks away) Try not to laugh until he is gone.. I will see if I can find the site for this plate kit and get back to you. Again welcome. You didn't say how bad you are biten??
Rick, Love your plate remedy. Was laughing at that. If you find the site, please do reply. I was badly bitten about 20 years ago and away thought they financially out of reach. Well they still are and I said to myself, time to finance it as I want to enjoy it now. Still got it for a very good and low price and still have to pinch myself that I actually own a Cobra. Christy
christyair The folding kit you can get at Sachse Rod shop in Texas. It's listed on page 188 of there catalog. $230.00 dollars plus shipping. They are $50.00 dollars cheaper the Yearwood. Electric Retractable Tag. # 1-800-495-3904. Welcome again. Rick L.
Welcome Cristyair! Your intro brought back some memories about the "snake bite". I got "bit" way back in 1965 when I saw my first Cobra in a Ford dealers showroom. It was blue with white stripes, didn`t have a radio or a heater or other amenities. The sticker price was $6248.00 !!!! Anyhow I longed for the day that I could have one. Twenty-two years later in 1987 I bought an Everett-Morrison Phase One kit and started to build my own. Ten years later I had it registered and titled and for the past 12 summers I`ve been cruising and hitting the car shows and loving every mile we go! I hope you get the pleasure of "the bite" for many years to come as well. Congrats!
