The sidepipe cutouts have not been made in HM-2002 yet. With all the changes and improvements to the car, including lowering the side skirts slightly, we want to make sure the cutout is positioned correctly. The body will be going on soon. They have added the aluminum fender liners and have been working on the wiring. I decided to put the master disconnect behind the shifter. I think it will work fine there. I thought I had a picture of that but I can't find it tonight.

The holes are cut for the fresh air kit. This is a really nice system created by Paul Proefrock. He has been a huge help on this car with his advice regarding changes to the car.
This system uses the 3 inch brake duct hose you can order from most race parts stores.
This is from Paul's car but you get the point.

My .02 worth - the aluminum fender liners - I know you like the raw aluminum look, however, a few trips on the road and you will find it's a lot more work to keep that look. I used an undercoating and find it's a lot easier to wash that down than polish aluminum.
Fresh air for the footboxes - soooo if the intake is right by the radiator - want it be hot at stoplights from the heat off the radiator?
Brakes - how would you like the potential for 1,200 lbs pressure at the calipers with 30 lbs pedal pressure? Drive my car next time I see you, maybe I'll ride over to your place after you pickup the car, which is.......when?
Love the attention to detail and the color will look great with those polished pipes. Looking great Deano!

Tim, I will be running pretty high CFM electric fans on the engine side of the radiator. That should keep the air through the vent at ambient temperature because the fans will be pulling air through the radiator. I know what you mean about the inner fenders but it is pretty easy to take the wheels off and give it a quick wipe down. I decided not to go with the power assisted brakes as we discussed on the phone because of the location of the master cylinders. It would just be to close to the headers.
I'll give you a call when I get it home and you can cruise over. I might go this weekend if I can get a pass from the family. If I can't, I would have to wait until next weekend.

Dean, what about catching the vent air through oval shaped holes in the body, under the headlights - or are those for brake cooling?

You are right, I am going to use the brake duct holes for the front brake ducts. That will be another project after I get it up and running.
The trunk panel is on the car and we are getting very close setting the body on for the final time. The wiring just needs to be finished up and a few little things that are easier to do with the body off.

I have seen those before but I think I am going with the brake ducts from cobra restorers. The are the original style. I just hate to pay that much for fiberglass tubes!
On another note, this is really cool. With the new floor mount pedals Hurricane was able to create a new type of "glove box" for SC cars with out the standard glove box in the dash. It he pictures are a little fuzzy but you can get the point.
This would be a good place for insurance cards and registration papers. For my friends in Texas maybe a bottle of hooch and a Smith&Wesson

Not even fiberglass Dean, plastic! Have you tried the pedals mounted in the floor like that? Just wonder if it's a different feel, like the pressure it takes on braking. Seems like it wouldn't take as much.

Tim, I haven't tried the pedals yet. They are very adjustable with both a balance bar and a proportioning valve. The pressure on the pedal will be dictated by the size of the masters. In theory it should work fine but I won't know until I can actually drive the car.

I don't know what it is about wiring but it is hard to keep neat. I did a car that had a neat and clean wiring harness then I had to trouble shoot a short after the car was done. The lesson I learned was be organized but keep it loose. It is a lot easier to chase a wire if you don't have to cut a zip tie every 2 inches!
So here it is. It looks a little messy but it all works.

Dean, is there something to protect those clutch and brake mater cylinders from objects hit in the road. I think I would make a bracket to protect those. It could be ugly without brakes. Just a thought.

Looking great Dean! Can't wait to see it. It looks like another top notch build you're putting together. I like the cutoff behind the shifter. I'm putting stainless cup holders up in front of my shifter (poker table style holders). They're great for holding different types of aluminum cans. Maybe I'll get my car about the same time you get yours. Later.

We are working on some shielding but it is more for the heat. I ran the exposed masters on my Kirkham too. I think the smart thing to do is leave all the options on the table. When the car is done I will post some pictures of exactly how the masters are oriented in the car and if every thinks it is wise to develop some shielding, then that is what I will do. I would rather be save than sorry.

The floor storage box is a great feature especially if as Dean pointed out, you don't have a glove box.
I think an inline fan is required to keep air flow and pressure up to the outlet in the footbox. I only ran a vent to the drivers side because it was 1/2 the work and I don't expect to have to many passengers.
You can see the fan under the guard below and the orange duct running from the guard to the firewall.

Car's looking good Dean. I read your note about the exposed masters on the driver side wheel well..here is a pic I found on clubcobra showing the rear panel of the wheel well so I assume if you did this and then took one across the bottom they'd be covered....

On the first series cars, we were told not to seal the footbox seams as it was a good place for water to run out, assuming you got rained on... . Over here its more like water coming in from flooded streets. I'd be a bit concerned about putting any rego papers (or my S&W) in the lowest part of the car. Maybe some sun blocker, a hat, things like that...for those of us surface challenged on top. You car sure looks slick, great going so far...
