I saw the foot boxes and they were not sealed. They are now, at least on my my car. I don't anticipate water in the car. If that happens (or when that happens) I will just use a shop vac to suck it out. If water can get out, it usually can get in. I didn't think the idea of holes in the foot box held water so I had them re welded. I am doing my best to seal the car up as well as you can any cobra.
Gary, that is exactly what it looks like. I think it will be fine.

Very nice Dean! I love the new footboxes. Gives it a more accurate look when the hood's open.

Dean,
Its looking great as usaual you never seem to cut a corner on any of your builds . I had ment to write earlier and say to look at an ISIS system for your cars electrical, I had one put in my Premier and think its the cats meow. way more than what a cobra needs but I think its a way cool system . I'll have to look for a few pics of the system installed even though its to late for you to change too, well its never to late .Soon to be in the headlines " Dean Lampe and Hurricane do it again"

Things are getting bolted on and it is starting to look a lot more like a cobra!
You might not be able to see but the perches for the blinkers were shaved done like the originals. Notice how they don't point straight ahead? They are a Little asymmetrical just like the originals
The same thing was done to the rear to make the mounting surface for the rear lights a little more rounded. Little changes but it all adds up to a great copy!
Notice the angle on the rear roll bar support. It is how is should be. My first Hurricane was at the wrong angle making the bar to short. This was a change made to Gen I cars some where along the line. I'm glad it is correct. That type of stuff drives me nuts

The change began with car #1065. Just happens to be mine.

The car is ready upholstery. All the aluminum is finished on the inside and the guy is suppose to be coming up from Kansas City to do the work. Hurricane offered a carpet that was more like felt than carpet then they had an upgraded carpet that, in my opinion, was a standard carpet. It certainly wasn't "upgrade quality". We talked a lot about this and a new carpet was found and ordered. The rumor is that it is truly an upgrade quaility carpet.
Here is the interior sans carpet (thats French!)

I like the seat indentations on the inner fenders. Mine doesn't have those. Is that an option or is it standard now?

It is standard now and it has been for some time although it wasn't on my first car either. It gives you a little more room to move the seat back.

The indentations came in after my car (HMS1053), but Mike & Rich were selling them as a retrofit. I added those, as well as the more correct roll bar rear brace.
So Jim, I guess HMS1065 wasn't the earliest car with the correct rollbar, huh?

Maybe not the earliest numbered car but definitely the FIRST Hurricane with it.

It looks very nice and the quality looks great.
One question on the body, where the fiberglass truck lid frame is glassed into the body, are they now doing it different, or did you fill in the depression around the trunk frame? I know mine and others from the past had that little depression around the trunk frame area.

It's around the top edge and sides, it"s almost looks like they made it to deflect rainwater from running into the trunk seam. Its's on the body, the truck frame seems to be a bit higher than the body (not flush). Maybe this has been corrected? Many Hurricane builders just filled the area during the body work.
Anyway, it's not a big deal, just wondered if the new Hurricane bodies are flush fit with the trunk lid.

Bill, I guess we will see pretty soon! I do know that after the body work was done on the first car, they came back and reworked the molds to correct some low spots in the body. Maybe that is what they are talking about?
They added the square bar on the foot box to give it a more original look. I am going to cut those mounting tabs off but thats just the tweaking that needs to be done on the first car. When I get the fake Lucas harness wired in, its going to look pretty vintage!

Those support tubes look great. I looked at doing that to mine but I have the old footboxes that are flat on top, so they don't lend themselves well to the tubes.
