I get to see it in person next weekend. Dean may have me sign a secret document to prevent pics being taken, but I will have some spy shots

I was out at Dean's yesterday. His car is incredible! Our jaws dropped when he popped the front wheel of and "introduced" us to the front suspension and brake system. The attention to detail is OUTSTANDING! Way to go Dean!

Sorry I have been away for a while. I have been swamped with other projects. The rumors are true, the car is in my garage for some final assemble before the engine is installed. I does look fantastic but I'm not quite ready to show the whole car yet. I wanted to finish interior shot first as well as a few other odds and ends. The seats are new to Hurricane. These are Cobra cobra seats. Thats not a type-o. They are made by Cobra in England. They are a tube frame suspension seat. If you have logged many miles in a fiberglass seat with a little foam to save your rear end, then you will really appreciate these new seats. I wanted a Kirkey vintage racing seat for the drivers side. They swapped that out, no problem. Here is a picture of the Cobra seat and the Kirkey seat. I will post some more interior pictures after the Boy Scout meeting tonight! You are going to love some of the changes.

Great choice on seats Dean. I put the COBRA Cobra seats in the car I have now and in my previous CR. I wanted something I could sit in all day, and with these you can.

I'm glad to here that those seats are going to be comfortable. My other ones haven't been. Here are a few shots of the interior but it is hard to get a good picture. Do I use a flash or not? It is amazing how nice the carpet is. The shifter is just sitting there.

Good choice on the vintage racing seat. I know over at Putnam last weekend, one of our members was having trouble holding on in the turns since there were no side bolsters to hold him in place. Looks great Dean.

That racing seat is extremely comfortable in my opinion. I really like it better than the standard seat.

Dean, would it be possible to get some regular updates on costs? Where are you at now?

Default Impressed

I went by Deans shop this weekend to put an eye on HM2002. As an owner of a Hurricane, I had a pretty good idea of what the car is and would be. But was I ever surprised. IT IS REALLY IMPRESSIVE

The updates that Lake City has done to the design really come to light when you look at the car. Just to look into the footboxes and see the low mount foot pedals . . . or to look into the engine bay and see the structure, white foot-boxes, and layout . . . everything just SCREAMS original.

The new flanged headers are cool. I recall how long it took to get my slip fits to go together, and the continual leakage.

Oh, and did I mention the Black paint job. Nothing shows problems better than black - and this thing just shines. Carpet job is the crowning touch.

All I can report is the bar just got raised a whole lot more. Comparing it to other kits, this is a replica, not just another hot rod.

Dean, compliments on a good looking build. Anxious to see it with the motor in place.

Paul

How are the pedal penetrations through the floor sealed?

Sorry for being away for a while. I was finishing up another cobra for a friend of mine. Anyway I have been back at it but first, Tim the pedals are not sealed from the top but the compartment below the floor is sealed to prevent dirt from entering from below. The whole top panel is removable rather quickly with to bolts for easy cleaning or larger brake bias adjustments.

Wbulk, the pricing is all up for negotiation. I would add up the options on the web page and then give Steve a call at Hurricane to get a price on the package you want. I am going to guess that I am between $27 and $29k. The paint and assembly is extra. As most people know, the parts keep adding up. Some of the parts I paid for and sent to them, some are part of the kit.

I have been working on the hood scoop, the windshield and the wipers. You would think the hood scoop wouldn't be that big of a deal but the 7 rivets closest to the windshield can't be bolted through the hood because of the under side panel shape so I used some adhesive and some nut zerts to solve the problem. The pictures are bad because the paint is so shiny that it reflects everything and it is hard to see what I did but you can get the idea.

Default Picture of HM2002

This is a post of what greeted me on my visit to Dean's shop. When this guy gets "sent to his room", how severe is the punishment?

Great surroundings. I still can't get over how good the car looks.

Nice, Dean

That's right Larry, I have an unusually large Thing!

I drilled the holes for the wiper post. Boy does that make you pucker up! I test fitted the the windshield and marked the location with a piece of masking tape to insure that the wiper post were even and also protect the paint while I was messing with the windshield. I put a strip of 3M clear bra under the rubber seal on the windshield. I will likely finish up the hood scoop and the windshield tonight.

You can see the clear bra in the picture but it isn't that visable on the car.

Hi Dean.

Enjoying the build. The fuel tank and rear brakes look really familiar!

A couple questions:

Did the linkage for the front sway bar ever get worked out?

Are there any photos?

Are you running a rear sway bar also?

Regrds,

Evan Smith

The sway bars are totally re-designed. I don't have pictures yet but I will get some post by the weekend if all goes well.

I did some more drilling on the body again tonight! I also managed to finish the windshield and put on the hood scoop I started last night.

I had to make my own grommet under the escusion.

Measure 4 times, drill once!!!!

No turning back now!!

Holes drilled.

Finished with all the rivets glued in.
