What a stunning build Dean, absolutely beautiful!

Can't wait to see it finished mate.

It's clear to see why the Hurricane was your kit of choice.

Cheers.

Steve.

Hey Dean,

It's been a couple weeks.........how about an update and pics? Is it making noise yet?

an Update

I stopped by Dean's Sunday evening for a quick inspection. Unfortunately, I only took pictures of the things that I needed for my build/information.

I've attached a picture of the front of the engine compartment. The Weber's are really impressive.

This car is really amazing. I am anxious to see it on a track

Hey Dean,

Nice pic Paul took.......where did you get the expansion tank and stainless water upper and lower lines at?

dlampe 07-14-2010 08:45 PM

I know I haven't taken to many shots lately. You guys know how to cut braided lines and bolt on engine goodies. Thats why I haven't been taking pictures of all the little stuff. The finished product is going to look awesome. I'll post some engine shots soon.

Gary, the stainless tube is 1.65 inch from Jegs. The expansion tank had to be built for me from a regular vintage tank I bought on Ebay. It had to be turned and shortened. I had a local radiator shop do the work.

Thanks Dean,

Car looks awesome can't wait to see the finish product....finally got my car 2 weeks ago and starting to purchase lots of stuff for it. Haven't ordered an engine yet but should shortly.......keep us updated with some finished pics!

I need one of you Hurricane guys to give me a call. I have a wiring question and I need you to check your fuse box. You will need an electrical tester.

Thanks for your help Paul. That wire is ran through the neutral safety relay and if you don't use the neutral safety switch you will need to bypass that relay with the solenoid wire.

Dean
Glad I could help out.

To other Hurricane builders, if you need a wiring diagram of the Haywire unit, I have a wiring diagram of the Haywire box on my site. The company doesn't offer one so I had to reverse engineer this so I could trouble shoot some issues.

Paul, you should be given some kind of award for all your work with Hurricane's!

Hey Dean,

Any updates on the car????

dlampe 07-28-2010 06:48 PM

I'm glad you asked!

I am two pieces of linkage away from having my engine finished and ready to start. I think it is time to show some of the efforts. I am very proud of the way the engine bay turned out.

Here you go!

Looks great. Nice work.

gsharapa 07-28-2010 07:09 PM

Outstanding Dean.....Did you use the DEI heat barrier product on the footboxes or something else? Need to do mine...

dlampe 07-29-2010 05:37 AM

That's right Gary. The DEI heat barrier works pretty well and gives you that original vintage look. We thought about a stainless steel cladding but that wasn't the look I wanted. Both would work well.

Love them Webers :3DSMILE:

I would suggest carrying some good quality microfiber towels in the trunk so you can clean all the drool stains that will accumulate on your fenders from people admiring your work of art **)

dlampe 08-01-2010 06:09 AM

Thanks for the compliments. I finished the throttle linkage last night. I have coolant in the system, oil is primed, wiring completed, and linkage adjusted. I think all systems are go for launch. I need to go buy some gas but I think that is all I am lacking at this point. I am going to try to get a video of the first start. Youtube allows 9 minutes I think. I should be able to get it started, set the timing and adjust the Weber's in less than that. We will see how it goes.

Here are some shots of my linkage.

A work of art but I would expect nothing less from you Dean.....can't wait to see and "hear" the video....

gsharapa 08-01-2010 07:34 AM

Dean,

Which manual fuel pump did you go with?

ENTDOC 08-01-2010 08:14 AM

Dean, what jets and venturies are you running with the webers?
