Default Cobra Restorers Plans

Hello, Be very careful with the CR plans, I bought a set and found big gaps in the measurements and some crucial mistakes. Some of the scratch builders on this forum helped me solve the problems.
good luck, karl

Well firstly you might want to check dates...you commented on a thread where the last post was nearly 6 mths old and the threadstarter has not really kept up with his own thread. Folks around here are weary of getting sucked into stories from time to time by new folks. Best to get the feel first...the members of this place damn near kill each other trying to help folks in need.

I checked dates, but your date format differs from mine, our date format is dd/mm/yyyy and yours are mm/dd/yyyy, so for me it was 'May' the last post, but beyond that, the situaton wasn't nice, forgetting when it happen. Thank for your comments, and when I feel that I can help someone I will.

Well, good manners and common sense will serve you well.

1. Does he have access to mechanicals like engine, trams, etc,?
2. Does he already have a body?
3. Maybe an older kit frame might be easier to duplicate.

If I can help, let me know.

Maybe plans are a bit much? Especially if planning to adapt alternate suspensions and drivetrain?
How about more useful measurements, like just enough to drop an existing fiberglass body on the custom chassis?
Like how far forward from the rear axle centerline to locate the firewall, as one example?

Insulting member here get you not far, as I stated in my former post here on that subject.

This is a forum in the first place, so there will be some questions, statements and inputs (opinions). If the OP can not handle that polite than he is in the wrong spot from the get-go.

I have quite a few drawings of my build and got here valuable info about some key dimensions.

…including a box frame, with the cut-list which I never used. Sorry for him, probably he will miss out on many things in live....

Basically, it's illegal to import or export cars into Uruguay. There are about 25 duties and customs fees, and the average car is about 20 years old. That means owning a 40 year old car is commonplace.

Old automobiles never die in car-conserving Uruguay

Check out the want ad listings, cars are for sale that would entice restorers to risk jail time.

So, the OP is looking for a little help because 1) there's no way anyone there can pay the duties and import customs fees, 2) he has no choice but use what is available from salvage.

What would it be like if you could only build your kit from what you scrounged lurking around a salvage yard?

Stop showing your ignorance and supersized American attitude, the OP would appreciate some help. How hard was it to google "Cars in Uruguay" and get some sense?

Note to OP: sorry, but we have no clue about the situation there. It's one of the liabilities of freedom, we pretty much can do what we please with cars here, and ignorantly assume everyone else in the world can, too.

That is obviously not the case for you.

There's three million people in Uraguay and three hundred million in the USA. You're suggesting we should know this quirky detail about his corner of the earth. With your reasoning he should know a little more about us.

Bottom line is, if you read the thread before you started apologizing for all of us, you'd see the OP posted a request for free goods and services. His first post. He is asked by the first responder what most people here would deem a fairly reasonable, albeit direct, question. What a great time for the OP to explain the bizarre state of affairs in his home country, but no, the OP goes off on the guy. You can apologize for yourself here.

The OP is asking for a set of chassis plans free but he can't find anyone who wants to give away their hard work without compensation. Gee, wonder why.

I'd like to have a new Kirkham free but David doesn't want to give me one. I think he should give me one out of the goodness of his heart. When he doesn't give me one, I'm going to get upset, probably hold my breath till I turn blue, and tell everyone what a terrible person he is.
Oh brother!

I could be wrong, but I believe the original question has been answered.

No, there aren't any free plans for a Cobra chassis available that anyone here is aware of at the moment.

So, you'll either have to spend the $200 for the plans and have them shipped to you or find a replica to get some basic measurements from and draw up your own plans.

Bob

What if we looked at this a different way to add a little perspective to the OP's problem?
If one of us wanted something that we thought we could source from Uruguay, but we didn't speak Uruguayan (Spanish?), and we found a forum in Uruguay and used "freetranslation.com" to post a question on that forum, isn't it conceivable that we may come across slightly differently on the forum than we had intended?
And....if Uruguayan forum members started making fun of our understandably poor Uruguayan/Spanish language skills, that wouldn't be nice, now would it?
Cheers,
Glen
