New JBL Coupe Build
I'm starting over with my build thread with a more appropriate name and I'll provide a little more background on my build up front. My build is a JBL Coupe, built by Larry Goins of Goins Motorsports, and designed by Richard Hudgins. Luckily for me, not Larry, I live very close to him in Tulsa. I can even check up on him over lunch, which I've done more than a few times.
The reason I chose JBL was simple, the chassis design is unlike any other. Number one, its pure eye candy with the monocoque design and use of billet is a trick looking plus. I'm confident from testimonials I've read that it will perform as good as it looks. See more details on their website at JBLmotor.com for more chassis details.
I chose Brent Lykins to build my motor. He's a regular contributor on CC and was a joy to work with. His attention to detail is impressive and his willingness to go the extra mile to make me happy was remarkable. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a high quality engine built.
I'll repost some of my previous pics from my "new build" thread and keep new pics here. If you have questions, please post, PM me, or better yet, contact Larry for more detailed details. On to some pics....if I can figure out this dang mac laptop......
first pic of frame skeleton. Looks rigid already.
frame all boxed in. Now its rigid!
Dry sump tank mounted snugly- where it will fit
frame in paint
Brake lines getting installed
Trans tunnel with dry sump lines installed
Note the cavernous interior space, well slighty cavernous
Sidepipe development - cant' wait to hear these
Bad ass pics as it was displayed at Hallett for RunNGun
That's enough for now. My cut and paste fingers hurt.

Very nice Mat-Richard is a really bright guy.
Just a word of caution-those pretty side pipes may not have enough 'volume' for your healthy 575HP Lykins motor.
A friend with a coupe had to remove his and use a single larger diameter pipe. Found a lot of HP that way.

Chas, I agree on the pipes, although, we made them as large as possible. I almost hope these pipes are on the quiet side. If so, I'll use them for street and have a single pipe built for track use. I'll try to get it to a chassis dyno to find out what its making.
And yes, it will be ready for RunNGun. I hope to get it shaken down before a "Track Guys" event at College Station the first weeked of April.

The JBL Coupe of Mat Twiehaus': The workmanship and attention to detail and overall bang for your buck is outstanding. I would challenge anyone to find a better built Coupe. Keep in mind that there is a Touring Version which is equal to anything on the market at any price and then their is the Competition Version which Mat is building that goes far beyond any current Coupe creation.
I have seen them all and built a couple coupes of different breeds and I am confident that the JBL Competition Coupe is absolutely State of the Art engineering. I too have made many trips to Larry Goins shop to see first hand his progress on Mats Coupe and I am impressed. More pictures Mat!!!!

Here's a few repeat engine pics from Brent Lykins and some more in the car and wiring progress. Should be almost done getting wired early this week.
Dashboard mockup
Dash wiring started
Hope to fire it up this week. Wiring is coming along great. I had to look twice to see the wires in the engine compartment. More pics this week for sure.

Here's a couple of front suspension. I'll try to remember to get more next time I'm out. But, I won't be able to beat the pics on JBL's website. They have tons of pics there of all angles on all 4 corners of chassis.

A couple of pics of engine completely wired up. Dash mocked up as well. I was hoping fire it up today, but multiple trick flow fuel filter leaks may delay.
The 1st go cart drive might happen next week. Just need to throw calipers on, trans fluid, bleed clutch and brakes and go.

I sense there may be a little wood involved in the go kart ride given the duration of his wait!

More pics during start up. When I figure out posting a video, I will.
The car sounds great, Brent Lykin's engine is awesome, Larry fixed my plug wire mistake (oops), gauges working, ready to go carting in a couple days, just needs brakes hooked up and bled, steering shaft installed and go!
