Beautiful car Bill. Well worth the immense effort, with that as an end result!
Congrats,
Glen

I remember your post, some time ago on which you did look forward to stop everything and sale the project.
Seeing you now driving, with I assume a big smile on your face, is great.
Congratulation to your nice looking 289

That is a stunning project completed! You should be very proud!
What was the color of blue you settled on for your paint?
I always had a soft spot for the lines of the 289 FIA cars. I am in Boston area for now and your build has inspired me to visit and inspect the FFR 289 car on Monday at their factory.

Subaru Horizon Blue
This isn’t a typical FFR car. Only the frame, windshield, seats, and suspension parts are from FFR. The rest is custom. Even the frame is heavily modified

That I understand and much admire the custom work that makes it closer to an original
. My problem is if it took me 8 yrs to build one like yours I would be 78 yrs old and I doubt a walker would fit in the car! LOL

No build is ever complete! Very well done, I have enjoyed the journey’s ups and downs..
I have some great plans for a home-built helicopter…. I’m just saying….

Tried painting flat black spats with plastiDip and it was a complete failure. Wasted more money and a whole day. More failures than I can count with this project

Bill,
It's our failures that build character. Successes only serve to build ego, you have grown as a person through this endeavor. Time to enjoy it.
Take care,
Jim

Took the Cobra for its longest drive. Had to cross a major road. While waiting at the light guys were giving me a thumbs up. Guess that’s a good sign.
When I got home I checked the wheels. All nice and tight. Checked engine bay and found the bolts that hold the throttle arms were missing the nuts. For the life of me I dont know what held them in. Found some lockouts in my bins and fixed. Whew! Dodged a bullet.
Car now has 16 miles on the odometer. Getting more comfortable driving it. Will need to get gas soon. Only 1/4 tank left and unsure if the gauge is accurate

My gauge was advisory. It was on full for most of the tank (somewhere around 1/2) and then dove to empty quickly - so 1/2 was really about 1/4. I never ran it dry buy when I saw how fast it dropped from coming off full to 1/2 the first time I stopped and that was when I made the "calibration".

Received my Griot’s 6” variable speed random orbit polisher/buffer, foam pads, Wolfgang polishing glaze, Chemical Guys Butter Wet wax, and microfiber towels. All set to polish and wax the car today.
