Where the f**k have I been and missed these updates.
Great to see and looking forward all aspects of this build. Nice to see something just a little different and what's not to love about the 289's.
Craig is right with regards to the misaligned bodies. There are a number of examples of bodies misaligned to bodies, left, right, up and down.
Another example how the pace team and Craig's attention to detail cover all aspects and a cut no corners attitude.

Thanks Leroy, and I agree, what's not to love? It's great that the build is gaining some momentum now, and I'm really looking forward to 2289 arriving in my garage.

Update time again with more pictures of the partially trimmed guards/fenders....
The body alignment jig has done its job so now any 'body on' / 'body off' procedures won't upset the correct body/chassis alignment.
Still more trimming to be done on the guards/fenders, but it's starting to look like it should:
....and further 'tuning' of the fender shapes....
Body will come off again, suspension removed, and the chassis will be painted / powdercoated satin black.

Looking good, thanks for the updates!
Once the body work is all done and there is no need for it to come off the frame, will it be bonded to the frame, or will it be bolted to the frame for removal at a later date if needed. I would assume that all nominal servicing can be done with the body on the car, correct?

No worries.
Body can be removed at a later date ...i.e. after the car is completed...
But I don't see any reason to ever remove it ,once you've finished building it, because everything is accessible Just like a "real car" :..lol

Exhaust primaries were completed recently.
Here's what they look like. The pipes (from memory) are 1-3/4" dia
The exhaust is a full under-car setup that should only be minimally visible from the side of the car. The exhausts will dump downwards just inside the rear skirt and won't be at all obvious from the rear.

Updates....
The roll-over bar is well on the go.
Craig tells me that the bonnet/hood scoop is well down the track now. The rivet-on version was finished some time ago, but in my application, it will be integral with the bonnet, and that's nearing completion.
Also, the fuel filler and body mounting is being worked on. On the FIA, it's on the rear deck, ie just ahead of the front edge of the boot/trunk.
More pics to follow!
Once these items are cleared, progressing AP2289 to roller stage will be quite straightforward.

Great progress Glen,
Nice mock up, it’s interesting to be able to see work in progress. On the rear bulk head, on either side of the ‘#F.I.A. 289’ tape … what are those square holes for? Support tubes for the rear suspension? Will the seats be on an adjustable track or just bolted to the floor?

Hi Tim,
The square holes? Have a look at the following picture of AP2289's chassis fab. The square holes seem to line up with the horizontally/longitudinally placed square tubing (tapered toward the rear) that forms part of the cage for the diff. and also provides mounting locations for the rear suspension. Why are there holes at their junction with the rear panel in the cockpit? Maybe it's just so that it's easier to guarantee full penetration for the crucial welds.

Just to keep the build thread ticking over, here's the latest on the roll bar.....
....and starting on the fuel filler (with inspiration from COB6008)...
More to come soon. Integration of the bonnet/hood scoop into the bonnet (if you're Australian or British) or hood (translation for our American friends and cousins) is underway, so more pictures to follow.
Other interesting stuff on the way soon too.

The black chassis looks very nice indeed. Will you keep the suspension bits as is or will some of them get the black paint treatment as well? Are there FIA specific modifications yet to be done to the suspension, or are the parts shared in common with PACE 427 offering. Looks like the body is just about complete, and it looks fabulous … when does it go out for paint? The guys at PACE are doing a first rate job!

Tim, the black chassis under the hood will really suit the car, I think.
I won't be painting any of the suspension components black. The wishbones will be hard to see fron under the hood anyway, but the rockers and pushrods will be somewhat visible.
I don't think there is anything FIA specific when compared to the AP427 setup. The differences - I think - are limited to adjustments to track and ride height to achieve the correct stance. There are minor differences in the wide FIA body compared to the 427SC body, but I don't think there's a lot there.
Craig...Warren...feel free to add more?
The plan is for the body to be painted after the chassis paint, so ....soon.
