Stainless Specialties is now in Tennessee (they were in Florida when they built my pipes). They are quite well respected. Stainless Specialties - Home

I've had good dealings with SS too. This was a couple of years ago. They made SS mufflers with turn outs.

Does anyone have any experience with chrome sidepipes? Just wondering if they hold up or turn colors?
They look killer!

Chrome looks good but polished stainless looks just as good. If you let your car sit chrome over time will pit. Every time you start your car a little of the pipe comes out (the inner rust out). Chrome will also need more maintenance. For a little more money stainless will last you indefinitely. Just my opinion.

I agree. Chrome is a waste of time. It is guaranteed to rust out over time.
Stainless is not as silver looking as chrome (similar to nickle), but as said, it will last a lifetime and is easy to maintain.

What the above said about Chrome pipes. I have had both and the stainless when polished looked just as good to me and it lasted as long as I had the car and they are still on it today.

Another SS supplier
Gas-n Industries is another source for polished stainless side pipes and mufflers. GAS-N Performance Products - Home, they list products for FF5 and Superformance. I have no experience with them, but their prices are good.

Different grades of stainless will polish different. Pipes on Bennett car are over 20 years old and look new. Did I mention they get HOT. Will have to make guard to keep people from burning legs.

That's a point that, unless you've lived with a Cobra for a while, you might not appreciate. I have black ceramic coating on my pipes but I still burn my leg every couple of years. I've gotten to the point now where, when I forget, I pull my leg off the pipes pretty quick, and the "burn" is only as bad a severe sunburn. The ceramic coating gives me enough "slack" to do this, whereas chrome pipes don't. The burns are quicker, faster, deeper, and more painful without the ceramic coating. And the skin and sinew spoils the pretty look of your pipes, regardless. I remember about the second year I had the car I had run it pretty hard and, when I got out, I put a sweaty left ankle right on the pipes and held it there. I heard a sizzle, like bacon in a skillet, and thought "now what the heck is that?" And then the pain hit. That was a really bad day.

For those with chrome, this stuff works pretty awesome removing blue and polishing. Used to use it on my Harley all the time.

Even stainless will turn blue and gold especially near the collector. I had mine tripple coated with silver ceramic, I then wet sanded them smooth and repolished. I like performance coatings in Georgia. Good people to deal with.
