Default My Factory 5 FE build.

I built my first one in 2001 with a 302. Keep it 10 great years. Got the itch and but knew it had to be a FE this time... The motor is a 445, Blue Thunder heads and intake. Mild cam, but made 450 hp at 5000. Hydraulic roller. Other then the FE, its a pretty standard build with the 3 link rear and 3:55 gears. This one will be solid black with black sidepipes. Enjoy, and thank you for all your help and dumb questions.
Here is the fun part first

Looks great Al. How close is the crank pulley to the crossmember?

That's a good looking build. What color are you going to have it painted?

Outstanding! Keep us updated! I am not sure if my driver's license has enough points to spare for a big block, but man, nothing else has that mid-range. Last one I had was in a 68 Suicide Door Thunderbird, and even with that overweight pig it was impressive on the highway. In a Cobra...well, be careful!

Great pics Al.

How are you going to deal with the raised exhaust ports of the Blue Thunder heads?

Great pics Al. The more I see the FF5 cars the more I appreciate what a nice chassis they put together and the engineering behind it. Very nice build and drool worthy engine...

Thanks Bob, that means a lot... You know Bob, the thing about F5 cars is the fact that you build them yourselves. Like everything else, some people like clean cars, nice houses with very manicured yards, some could give a flip abut either. SO, goes with the F5 builds. You see some with donor parts which is what I did on my first build and some use new parts all over which is what I am doing with this build. Bottom line is that you are in the game and having fun.
This is the MK4 with the better body lines. I hope it all works out.

On the raised ports on the BT heads.. well its only .400 as I finally relized and I can make it work. I don't think anybody will notice if I have to grind .400 out of the body for exhaust out. We'll see when I get there

Al, funny you should mention that. The reason I went with a scratch build instead of a FF5 (my choice at the time) was because of the body issues. If I had waited long enough for the Mark4 body to come out, I would have been on the road sooner and much easier- plus probably much cheaper. I really like the Mark 4 bodies and the changes they made to the roadsters to make them more "original" looking.

Keep posting updates, this should be a killer build.

Bob
