Looks like a high quality build. You running an Alfa four in it? What will your weight be and what is the power output? Sounds very interesting!

I had to change out the engine a while back, only because of a leaking rear main seal. Been working on installation of the fuel lines, both the main supply, and the return line.
Installation looks quite neat in the tunnel but with no hoist to use, it took a bit longer to fit the lines. The tunnel is closed in for some of its length for torsional strength of the mono, so access is a challenge. I countersunk the screw heads on the top side of the tunnel, and I have a sheet of 16g alum. alloy to be fitted for appearance. Very professionally done Glen. Did you have to bend the lines, or were they pre-bent? That is a tight area to work. If you ever end up in a POW camp, tunneling out will be a cinch with all the practice that you have had working in tight place :rolleyes:

Actually, to show you how tight....a picture from January this year, post #181, when apparently it was 33°C. Today it was much colder, believe me... Attachment 35065 ...and it's even tighter coming in from the other end :LOL: edit: yes, pipe bends at both ends were professionally done |

Milestone event after a slow start on the fuel system....
I've never built a fuel system from scratch before, so have not used braided hose and associated fittings previously. Info on ProFlow fittings is hard to find - in fact I could not find anything on building up ProFlow hoses, but can report that my first hose (from tank "out" to rock-catcher filter) is completed to my satisfaction... Looks good Glen! The one thing I hate the most about working on cars is having to install fittings on stainless steel hose. My finger tips are sore for weeks from tiny punctures from loose wires :CRY: I just do not do it enough to get proficient, or to justify the cost of the special tools. Make sure you wear good gloves.

Here's the fuel pump and main filter on their mounting plate, along with the rock catcher.

If the whole assembly slides in and out from the back, can I suggest you have captive nuts on the plate, so you only need to undo your 4 bolts from underneath, and the plate is out in 5 minutes? Gary |
Thanks Gary, but it it needs to slide out forwards. That vee shaped gap under the front of th diff. isn't large enough.
With the tailshaft in, access to the front two attachment screws/nuts is reasonable, and access to the rear two will be OK, and the assy can then slide out forwards easily enough.....if it needs to. Screws are socket cap head; nuts are nyloc; "Ringie" access to nuts is not a problem I'm happy that you're paying attention with your "expert eye", though. Appreciated! Cheers, Glen |

That sure looks nice from the underside. Wow, that is a lot of aluminum. The parking brake cables are just the right height. When you install the hook in the floor of your garage it will catch them and engage the parking brake to stop the car from flying out the other end of the garage. You know, just like the fighter jets on an aircraft carrier when they land ;) Getting real close. Cheers, Jim |

Brake line plumbing now complete at the rear end.
Modified an 11mm spanner/wrench to make tightening the pipe connections easier and more reliable. I didn't have one; it sure makes the job easier, reducing the risk of damaging the pipe connection hexagon....but you all knew that anyway :D Cheers! Glen . |
