Got some fuel lines here in a vulnerable position, needing some 'love' ....
Attachment 36922 So here's the solution, made up using my fancy bender (two pieces of hardwood decking, a couple of F-clamps, and my bench vice) .... Attachment 36923 Cheers! Glen |

LHS felt unloved too, so got the 'treatment'
Attachment 36924 Should stop some stone damage, maybe... :3DSMILE: Cheers! Glen |
The RHS solution looks like a nice example of aluminum origami. The button head screws & PEM nuts, aligned with the rivets, is a clean look and serviceable should that be necessary in the future. As usual, elegant work Glen. :)

It's satisfying work, though .....and what else would I be doing on a hot Saturday? Cheers! Glen |
Glen, I'd trade you a little of that heat ;) 12" of snow on the ground, and 10-12 degree @ night (Very Rare). That's way too cold for us PNW guys, normal is 40-45 (Raining), and maybe 6" of snow for the whole winter. And yes, A little cheese please with my whine:) Cheers my friend, TommyRot.

You've got 12" of snow? Current temp here is around 30°C (85°F?) Cheers! Glen |
Thank you, my friend, just what I needed :) Funny story, I was looking for a new tow rig, something that can pull the 20Ft. enclosed trailer with the Cobra in it. (About 6500Lbs) everyone else has a 4-wheel drive pick-up's (Dodge Rams, Ford F-250, Chev. 2500 ) Well as you know I'm not a normal guy ;) Never owned a 4-wheel drive or cared to. So, what did I come up with?? an Infiniti QX (SUV) 5.6 liter (400HP, 400+Toruqe, 4-wheel drive) So since we have all this snow and I now have a 4-wheel drive rig, all the neighbor's wanted things from the store, I said, "No Problem" and processed to drive my little CLK Mercedes to town. Everybody that knows me said "You know Tom he wouldn't take his new SUV out and get it dirty" The Little Merc. did just fine :) Cheers TommyRot.

Tom,
Your car shed/garage must be big enough to be visible from space ;) How many vehicles do you have now?? Cheers! Glen |
Hi Tom, many here will think it is overkill, but I purchased a "Hensley" style hitch for my car hauler (24-foot box / 27-feet overall) which weighs in at about 6K lbs total. I tow with my Jeep Grand Cherokee W/Hemi and I feel so much better having this setup. I hauled my trailer from NH to VA to Pittsburg for the SAAC event a few years ago and had absolutely no issues. The few times I hauled this trailer without this hitch, it was not so great. I ended up going with the Propride version and never looked back. If I had a heavier pick-up with a longer wheelbase and wider track, I probably would not have purchased it. These two videos do a great job of showing the principle:

My Jeep and trailer with ProPride Hitch. And my spreader...

Sorry Glen - I just realized I was hijacking your thread...
Your build is awesome - can't wait to see the finished Cobra!! |
No sweat. Most of us here have a good sense of humour :D
That hitch looks like almost 'railroad' capable ;) Cheers! Glen |
Thanks Glen !!!

One more post Glen, then back to your build K? ;) Thank you, Mongoose 930. I'll have to check my tongue, I have a full size battery box with solar panel on top. I'm pretty sure I can get the "Older Style" EZ lift hitch bolted to the sides, but could be a tight fit with your set-up. I've been thinking of something like this?? https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Eaz-Lif...0T36E3Q4&psc=1

OK
That is a tight squeeze into your 'trailer-port' I don't see 12" of snow, BTW |

That my friend, is what you learn in 28years driving semi-trucks **) Brent (EM-0785) said "No way that will fit" :p To make it even worse, there's big fir trees and bush, on the pass. side. I should has bet him lunch :) You get one chance to get it right. And yes, that was summer 2020, so hardly any SNOW :D Cheers Glen, now back to important stuff, like finishing your 289FIA car. TommyRot.

Another very small item ticked off the list.... the required reversing light.
It's as discrete as I could make it ;) Attachment 36967 ....and just catching the last light of the day from the sunset Cheers! Glen |

Next on the list....seat belts.
I've got the inertia reel retractors mounted correctly (ie legally). Access to the rear bulkhead is quite good. The saches of the lap/sash belt are centre-mounted, rather then outer-mounted. Attachment 37015 On the other side of the trunk bulkhead (where the belt and buckle pass through), I've got a moulding that I've covered with leather for a less 'plastic' look. This is it, ready to be fitted.... Attachment 37016 Too hot to work out there again today. Cheers! Glen |
