Hi Glen,
Your build is really coming together nicely. Nice job with the dash layout, especially considering what you had to dodge and workaround behind the dash, well done.
I am sure you will figure out the door pockets, they are quite handy and well worth the effort.

Thanks Tim. Your comments are always most welcome
Probably not widely known, but I originally had an ERA FIA on order (back in 2011, I think), but had to relinquish my spot in the ERA queue because of extreme difficulties with importation of a car into Australia.
And thanks again Tim; your advice over many years, as well as a continuing supply of information from 'stateside' has been invaluable to say the very least.
There's a percentage of ERA "information" in my car, AP F289
Cheers, mate!

There is quite a gap to be filled between the door sill and the inner "wall" of the monocoque (can just see part of that gap on the left side), so I've started working on the car's door sill kick plates, and then those panels inside that mate up with the sill kick plates.
Door sill:

Working on the door opening kickplates. Now have the RH side kickplate fitted; outer edge is trimmed nicely, but inner now needs more trimming.
Slow job, and I haven't even started on the making up the panels that will fill the gaps on the inner side of the mono.
Cheers!
Glen
....and for those (any?) following this build....no, that is not the exhaust protruding in front of the rear wheel

Thanks Richard. I've been away on holidays (no, not in Victoria, but unintentionally had deviate through Broken Hill on the way home) ....so no progress to report lately.
Will be out in the garage this afternoon
Cheers,
Glen

Been working on the infill panels that seal the gaps in the side of the 'tub' under the kickplates.
Here's the first panel (the rearmost of 3 panels), in the process of being roughcut by jigsaw. Note the 'clamping fixture' .....

Next, my bending fixture for the slight angle at the bottom edge of the panel....

Glen,
Looks like it came out very well. You should patent that professional looking bending and shaping device before someone copies it; who knows you could make millions . Way to think outside of the box.
Cheers,
Jim

Well Jim, I did think it might be worth buying a small sheetmetal bender....but then I thought 'why not just do it with what I've got'. Cheaper too...that was the clincher

Almost finished the infill panels on the RHS interior. Some minor trimming still to do
Now to do the same on the left hand side.
Cheers,
Glen

Greetings Cobristi!
A minor update on AP F289's progress....
Now completed... the left hand side door kickplate and 3 infill panels...
A time consuming, but satisfying job (a lot of filing - as in, with a file - a lot of tapped holes... a lot of screws....).
End result, while not looking ...exactly... 'as original', is still quite satisfying.
Cheers, and stay safe my friends!
Glen

The 'sump' on my fuel tank has a semi-circular trim attached to the skid plate under the sump. It's not pretty ..... see first pic
So, I assembled my trusty bender and made up a diffuser to improve its appearance.
See second pic
Cheers!

Glen,
Looks like it belongs on a race car. Nice work.

Jim, I have to admit - yes I did get the idea from a race car
To my eye it's in line with the "ex-racer, now road car" concept
Cheers!

A while since an update on my car's progress
Been working on my battery location in the trunk, LHS. I'll post pictures soon.
Bigger news for me is that my 302 - been sitting here in my garage for around 7 years now - was finally picked up by my engine man yesterday
Cheers!

Glen,
Looking forwards to more pictures. Wow, I hope that you have not been waiting for 7 years to have that engine picked up! Hopefully it will not take that long to rebuild it Good luck.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim - ha ha, no, about four months. I bought it, knowing its history (it's a 302W built by Tickford in Geelong) around seven years ago, and it's been sitting in my garage on my engine stand since then. My preferred engine man started a significant expansion of his workshop earlier this year, and has had significant problems getting tradies and materials. My rebuilt Toploader has been waiting in the wings for some time too
Cheers!
Glen
