Default Big Block Street

Starting a new project alongside the blue 427 SC build, what we have here is a csx 4k SC that will / is being converted to a street 427.
No roll bar, no hood scoop and under car exhaust.

Also a set of 5 real sunburst wheels are going to need a restoration.

At this stage, car stripped down, body removed, frame back from sand blasting

I need to fix a few things on the frame, replace some damaged tubing and fit some missing frame structure.

Should be an interesting and fun project.

Seems to be a little more interest in 427 roadsters these days. To me, they are more appealing than a striped SC lookalike.

Will be great to follow the build.

Cheers,
Glen

Wow, it was a hot one today, so why not get into some welding.
Started welding up all the rivet holes not going to be used.

Thanks

Not sure what was going on here but it has to go, cut the ugly out and replace with new material.

The plasma cutter makes short work of removing the old cross member.
All cleaned up ready for a new cross member to go in.

The rear section is all cleaned up ready to go!

This is an early 4k car so would not be a Hi-Tech car.

The cross member is a modification to this frame by ?
And yes the welding/ workmanship falls a little short imo.

I think it would have stayed together but certainly not the best looking work.

We will get it straight with a new piece of tube and transmission mount setup, park brake bracket needs a little work as well.

Rest of the framework, welding included looks fine.

The engine block looks a bit hinkey. Service block, or is it a Pontiac?

Interesting transmission mount! I like it! Do the mounting ears on the transmission actually sit on the cross member?

The block is one of our new billet plastic 1000 hp ultra lightweight versions.
After the ride along in your HiTech the other day I am going to need all the hp I can get to keep up with you!

I did consider the removable cross member a few years back, but to be honest it's not that big of a deal removing the trans from the top/inside the car.
