My harness is actually starting life as 1963 Galaxie underdash, front lighting, and engine harnesses. It has a similar fuse box and firewall plugs as the Cobra. I have 64 Falcon wiring bits for the heater / defroster. I’m harvesting wire ends from other scrap 1965 Mustang harnesses that I have. The rest is wiring and bullets from British Wiring to tie the Ford wiring into the Lucas lights and switches. It’s a lot of splicing and fabricating, but it will fit my car and should (with the help of the Lord and lots of continuity checks) get power from the battery to it’s intended target.

John,

If my car turns out 1/2 as nice as yours, I’ll be a happy man.

Stacy, me thinks you've surpassed me already, or certainly will.

We’ll have the 2 nicest dark green 289 replica cars around, for sure.

I recently picked up a Shelley 12 DL jack on eBay UK for $12.00 (shipping was $40). Followed a couple of old threads on here regarding their restoration to disassemble and clean it. I took Armrer’s & LMH’s suggestion to replace the worn out and pitted caged ball bearing with a roller bearing and shims from McMaster Carr. Got it all reassembled and started the difficult task of finding a curved saddle. After deciding not to waste an entire jack for the saddle, I figured I would try to fab one up. I took a couple of pieces of 1” flat bar, bent them to a curve that looked correct, and welded them together. A small piece of 3/4” tubing on the bottom of the saddle formed the “neck”. A little time on the grinder and the saddle turned out pretty good IMO. I need to peen the saddle on, lube everything, and then apply paint. One more thing I can mark off my list.

Nice job on the jack!
Can I ask - have you installed your dash panel yet?

Cheers!

I have installed and removed the dash a couple of times. It is currently out of the car while I’m in the process of fitting body panels. Lots of fiberglass dust flying currently.

Hey Glen! Your saddle looks great, about all it needs is to be beat up a little for that cast look. Then again, once it's against the bulkhead no one will be able to tell the difference! Cheers, Dennis

Thanks Dennis, but it's not mine. It's Stacy's (Ivygreen65), and yes, he has done a great job on the Shelley jack.

Cheers!
Glen

Got my 289 block and crank back from the machine shop after 6 months. Not the shop’s fault (they’re a great shop) - they have been dealing with manpower issues like everyone else. I told them when I dropped my parts that I was in no rush and to get to them as they could. I have the short block buttoned up and am waiting to get my heads back (had to have 6 cc taken out of them) so I can move on with getting the rest of the engine assembled.

While waiting on cylinder heads, I got the toploader disassembled and the case cleaned. Rebuilding it now, so that will be one more step completed.

Stacy, you've either got the most wonderful wife, or you're divorced. that is your kitchen?

I do have a very understanding wife. However, I do most of the cooking at home, and with that comes certain "concessions" as to how the kitchen is used.
