The reality is the industry will simply fade into oblivion. One recently (Hurricane?) closed shop and so far has not found a buyer. That will happen to those that don't have a large enough following AND a cost effective manufacturing system.
The remaining will survive until the manufacturing costs of running continually lowering volumes essentially price the cars out of competition.
It doesn't bode well, but it is how commodities work.

Does that translate to our Cobra replicas then appreciating in value, as there would be a finite number of replicas?

Started building the rearend, i went ahead and upgraded to vented rear rotors and i think i am going to try and add an upper trailing arm like the era rear for added stability. It was a bear to get the rear together but woth it....looks awesome! Although it wieghs as much as a planet.

You mean the one that attaches to the top of the aluminum uprights and goes over at an angle? That will be tricky with the Jag based rear.

Got all the front suspension and brakes on, finished the rear suspension with brakes. Also just mocked up the rear fender flares to get an idea of what it will look like. I think once they are molded in and the wheels and tires are on it will look killer. Sent the wheels to get powder coated as well....burnt brinze.
Next step is i need to remove the fuel tank so i can modify it for EFI. Thinking i will add the standard 10 bolt fuel cell ring so i can use an aeromotive/fuelab/holley drop in fuelpump.
This is turning out better than i expected.

Got some more parts in, tkx, tilton clutch and throwout bearing, lakewood bellhousing and engine trans mounts. Goong to get the bellhousing and trans cerakoted and hopefully get the engine/drivetrain installed this weekend.
Still waiting on my fuelpump and fuel line parts. The fuel setup is going to be pretty custom. I am running an EFI setup so need a return, not a lot of room for the feed line much less for a return as well. Hopefully i can make my setup work.

Got the fuelpump setup and associated parts in today. The tank is out and i am going to start fabing up the fuel system. The fuel pump is actually 2 pumps, 1 lift pump and another in the surge tank. Is it overkill.....yeah...do i care......no. going to run stainless feed and return lines. Finding space to run the lines is the hard part. I have a plan though.

Awesome build! I love the lean, sleek look of the flared 289 racers; far more so than the USRRC/FIA cars with the cutback doors. Keep the pics and the updates coming!

Done modifying the tank, just need to weld it in. Going to try and finish all the welding and prep it for paint, then put the pump in a d make the hard lines. Hopefully have the fuel system wrapped up this week.

Fuel tank fab done, waiting on one more fitting and then i can finish it up. Going to 3d print some bracket to hold the linea in place (vibration) and make a wiring harness for the pumps. Slowly moving along.

I haven't kept up with 3D printing lately - what metals can be 3D printed now?
Very professional looking job on the tank and setup, btw
Cheers!

3d printers have come a long way but i will be using carbon infused plastic material PAHT-CF. Its good to 400degrees and strong enough for what i will be using it for.
Thanks, trying to engineer it for easy access later. I uave learned from my previous projects...your going to uave to tale it back apart at some point, try to make that process easier.
