Darn those Kirkhams...KMP 184 nearing final stages of construction.
My baby's for sale. Butler Racing Inc. No. 5. Built in 1981-82 and registered as a 1982 "special" (smog to the engine year/passed to "enhanced" levels--higher than normal California levels). No registration/smog nightmares! Just smoged and ready for transfer of title.
Veteran of DVSFII (pictured in Jan., 2003 Kit Car), VICE--Death Valley runs and Run to Beale during 2002.
As with all Artnz and Butlers--significant engine setback--front mid-engine design/excellent, balanced handling--no quirks. BRI built them strong--door beams, cowl and rear bulkhead beams--very solid/no shake. Ron Butler was a Crew Chief for Shelby in the 60s, so there's some history.
1969 351 Cleveland with 4V heads, 750 Holley, Offy manifold, Rhodes hydraulic lifters, high lift cam, alum. finned valve covers, finned
oil pan, remote
oil filter. Original 351C air cleaner with all fittings for smog. Good strong 390 HP motor with no leaks and no problems--21K miles on car and engine.
Tremec 5 speed with short throw shifter installed by Paul Bennett in October, 1996. 11 inch McLeod clutch/bellhousing/flywheel/throwout--very little wear indicated in recent check.
Strengthened MGB frontend with Konis, Jag rear with supplemental stabilization bars, dual Koni coilovers and inboard XJS brakes. Dual brake system with balance adjust. Brakes barely worn.
Full leather interior--full doors with map pockets, dash, rear bulkhead, and trans. cover. SW gauges--full set. Nardi Classic wheel. Simpson harnesses. Full wool carpeting (trunk also).
New Fuel Safe bladder in welded, custom fuel cell container.
Dual rollbar.
Stainless side exhausts with heatshields.
Full bumpers front and rear.
New Vintique Wheels with Knockoff hub covers/New BFGs (235-60x15, 275-50x15) for street.
Enkis front and rear with 7 month old Hoosier TDs--barely worn (245x15, 275x15) for track.
Full weather gear--beautiful English-made top with side curtains.
Wings, visors, wipers.
Original paint shines a deep red with some chips normal for its age.
Full receipts of major work since new.
Great patina, excellent shape with no problems--professionally maintained throughout two owners who knew enough to let the pros keep it up. Former owner is a college professor at Stanford. Autocrossed for a few years, fairly good record for slightly slow steering for that venue--better for the road and open track.
Great car--it takes a Kirkham to make me sell it. Asking $34,000/talk to me. E-mail me if you're interested. Why build? Ready to have fun with it now. Pictures in my gallery.
