Contemporary Cobra
Contemporary Cobra titled as 1966 Ford Cobra. Build completed in 1995 with 5500 miles. Black with viper red stripes; beautiful paint and body prep completed in 1998. Doors, hood and trunk lid are finished and painted inside, and all gaps are uniform with perfect fit. Inside of nose and engine compartment areas are finished and painted. Wheel wells are smoothed out and painted. Car has never seen a water puddle, and is clean and detailed underneath. I’ve only had time for two shows with two firsts. Freshly built 289 installed three weeks ago with cam break in only. Bored .40 over with new pistons, chrome molly rings, new frost plugs, ground crank, completely refurbished early 302 heads with hardened seats and new everything, new cam, lifters and springs, new double roller timing chain, aluminum Edlebrock Performer intake with new 600 cfm Edlebrock carburetor. Giffen aluminum radiator and expansion tank for big block from Contemporary so motor runs cool; two speed electric puller cooling fan behind rad and twin pushers in nose for looks. Four speed top loader. I acknowledge that the small block may not exalt the “Y” chromosome in all, but this is a very nice driving car. Jaguar XKE torsion bar front suspension with HD anti-sway bar; rear is Jaguar independent 2:88 with custom CWI trailing arms and adjustable anti-sway bar. Smith’s instruments except for SW fuel unit, and they all continue to work with no gremlins. Underlay and carpet throughout. Correct steel seat frames, foam, and leather upholstery. Seats are bolted to floor for taller drivers, but I have seat tracks which were once installed. Four point harnesses. Heater with defrost. Battery cut off. PS Engineering Halibrand look true knock-off wheels; 295-50-15 BFG rear and 235-60-15 front. Rubber is like new.
Here’s an honest description of the hiccups. The steering wheel is not what Contemporary supplied, but all other body and trim components are for this car. This car has custom headers and an under car exhaust exiting the rear, which may turn some folks off. This is an easy conversion to calf burner as I have patterns to cut out the fenders. The trunk isn’t carpeted yet. I have leather for the door pockets, which haven’t been installed. I have nudge bars (bumpers) but not the overriders, and the quick jacks are installed at this time. This car is babied big time and driven responsibly by an older guy. Never raced. Gonna’ start a Daytona Coupe and only have room for one toy. Car is in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I can assist with brokerage which will ensure trouble free import into the US. Car is offered at $32K USD. I have a detailed ledger with receipts. You’ll not build a Cobra of this quality for anywhere near the price. If I ever see the sun, I’ll take decent pics. (902) 445-5855 or e-mail at reidbouchard@sprint.ca. Several larger photos in members' rides gallery - photos are presenting a big challenge this am. Cheers.....Denis
