New guy looking for advise.
My father and I are looking to get into a project togheter. I have been interested in the Cobra for some time but thought it was out of reach. Several kits available but the range in price is wide.
I am searching for advise on the available kits ie; Factory Five, Everett-Morrison etc. or should we cut to the chase and buy a completed car and enjoy the ride??
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Can't go wrong with a turn key car and there are some pretty nice used ones for sale. You and your dad then can tweek it the way you want. If you are looking for more of a project buying a new Superformance and putting the engine and transmission in yourselves, is a pretty good project but not as complexed as building a complete Cobra kit.
I've just completed the install on my new Superformance with a 514 Ford Crate Engine and Tremec TKO transmission. Superformance makes everything to just bolt up!
A small block stroker 392 or 408 is also a awesome combination!
If you decide on a new Superformance Cobra, Doug Reed at Superformance South (New Orleans) handles Florida!
Good luck with your future project!

Gary,
Thanks for the information. I am interested in purchasing this fall. I like the turn key approach or the small project as well. Would like to enjoy time with my Dad not frustrate us both.
I was interested in a Factory Five kit because of the price but it seems others are better. I will check out the Superformance.

You can also get kits in differnet forms like rolling chassis. EM for sure can build you one. All the suspension work is done. This will cut down your build time.

Have a look at B&B. The prices are reasonable, top quality and various levels of kits available. I also highly recommend you spend the $20 and buy "The Complete Guide to Cobra replicas" available at cobracountry.com. Good luck.

Scct:
As long as you live right here in Florida, you might want to consider going to the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach over Thanksgiving weekend. If you've never been, it's huge. It covers pretty much the whole infield of the speedway. Plan on spending the whole day. Several of the kit makers are there like Superformance and Unique. They're all very helpful and will answer any question. Check out the car corral for a turnkey Cobra. Also, wander through the used parts area. I've seen few for sale there as well.
Good luck,
John

If you want a quality Cobra with a proven performance I.R.S. suspension and you have a modest budget check out Randy Hunter's Cobras in Ocala, FL
http://www.missionlabs.com/hunters
I have car #009 and am really pleased with the quality. These things are what sold me: Randy Hunter, Affordability, Corvette Suspension set up for deep dish wheels, steel floor, hand laid vinylester Body, fully lined hood, trunk and doors. If you are over 5'-10" you might consider one of his streatch models. The doors IMHO look better than most streatch Cobras. I am 5'-10 and I have a standard 90" WB Cobra.
I did most all of my own work and almost all parts are new and I have under $23k in it to date.

Buy used. Best bang for the dollar and there is a lot to choose from. Check out Cobra Country and this Forum. Save yourself $10K and a lot of frustration.

Cal Metal,
Please elaborate on advice to "buy used". I'm really on the fence about a build from kit or turnkey...
