Bob,
Haven't seen many "serious" buyers on this site. If you want to sell it, I would recommend a listing on Cobracountry.com, putting it on eBay and ads in DuPont Registry and Hemmings Motor News. The Center Oiler vs Side Oiler hurts the sale price and the funky intake cowl on the carberator shouold be replaced with a turkey pan. I think a lot of people are wary about buying a Contemporary ever since the went out of business too. Location is not the problem - I've bought 5 Cobras so far and every one has come from the East coast and I live in Oregon......... but then again..... 3 of those were ERA's! I wish you the best of luck. It looks like you have a very nice Cobra.

Wary of buying a Contemporary???
Not in the least, it was.... and still is a top shelf car. All the parts can be had for it with the exception of the body and uprights. And as I hear tell, Don Borders offers a body. FFR has the molds for the 427SC and the 289 cars.
Most used Contemporary's with a BB, depending on fit and finish of the car can expect to sell anywhere from $40K to $50K.
Realistically, you can expect to see in the area of $45K when you sell this car.

Bob,
Location has nothing to do with it, however, your current pricing structure vs the current economy does. With such an influx in the economy, there are not many people with 50K + to throw away on a "toy"....Now, with this said, you also have to look at the competition in your current marketplace. See the following urls for details on this:
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sl.html
In particular the following urls, and any other Contemporary, Superformance, or ERA listed....
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...kett/home.html
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...ades/home.html
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...a-reese-wv.jpg
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...ederick-va.jpg
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sa...llards2-tx.jpg
Asking prices that are to high (even though you know that your willing to come down quite a bit) will keep people away, as they are to scared to even consider making an offer.......Finally, what you have invested vs what you can actually get out of the car are two different things.........Look at the above mentioned urls, think real hard on how your car compares to the rest of them (be objective), and go from there....................Do wish you the best in the sale of your car.........
Yours in Buying and Selling old Fords,
Bill S.
PS: As for putting it on Ebay, build a very detailed web page beforehand, the better the details and the pictures, the better chance you have of ever selling the car...........

Bob - You asked for feedback, so I assume you will take mine in the spirit that it is offered. I know that some people are offended when others do not agree with them about the value of their possessions. Since you have had nearly zero response to your original post, obviously not many people agree with the price you want for your car. When it comes time to sell a car, any car, or for that matter almost anything at all, it is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay, regardless of the original cost or what you have invested in it. I'm sure that I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but maybe not, since you seem surprised that you have gotten so little response.
From my perspective as one who is still shopping for my first Cobra, I can tell you that for fifty thousand plus, I can get any one of a dozen different Cobras built exactly the way I want it, color, interior, engine, transmission, options, etc., brand new, no miles, and it will be exactly the Cobra of my dreams, no compromises. Your Cobra is exactly the way you wanted it, and I am sure that it is a beautiful car, but unless you find someone who agrees with you totally, chances are he will spend his fifty grand as I will.
I hope this helps. The advice from others to advertise on as many venues as possible is very good. Hopefully you will find the buyer you are looking for.

BOB
Sorry to hear about the back problems I know how that goes. I broke mine in 1988 and had it operated on. Luckily I have very few issues with it now.
I agree with Bumpster on the fact that you can finish so many brands of Cobra's for 50K now. The new guys on the block are offering a turnkey minus for 26K . Superformance is about 38K as turnkey minus. Remember this is a car that has as many options as buyers and some won't buy it if it isn't exactly what they want.
Personally I always liked the contemporary body but I want to build one instead of buying one and wish they were still around.
It looks like you have a great car but mix current offerings with current economy and the market is soft, so soft it is effecting my judgement on whether I want to build or buy...
Best wishes with the car I hope you get a good price for it.

First, sorry about your back trouble.
Economy soft, less people have that kind of disposable income.
IMHO, it will cost $50K to build most any Cobra kit, once you add in the engine/trans and miscellaneous parts that don't come with the kit. I bought a used Contemporary and I am very happy with the car. I knew I wanted used, as I felt like that would give me the most value under current economic conditions. The trouble from a consumer's standpoint is that you will find something wrong with most of them, in other words it is hard to find exactly the car "you" are looking for. I know, I looked at more than twenty cars before I found the "right" one.
As mentioned, try some of the other outlets and best of luck. And be pateient, the right buyer will come your way.

Bob,
To start your car appears to be a very nice one. To that end listen to the previous posts as their advice was very important, more pictures, better advertising sources and your windage and air cleaner are all limiting your success. As for the manufacturer, contemporary is probably one of the best made front to back and after much research was the direction that I chose. Parts are not a concern as there are people on both coasts that have and or will make just about everything for the car. Finally we come to price. For a point of reference I purchased my car about 6 months ago for $32K and had to put about another 3k into it to put it in much the condition that yours appears to be in now. A friend of mine also purchased one recently with a Glidden built 289 w/webbers for $27K. Granted that car still needs some work but obviously for that price the car was a great deal. So what is yours worth? After looking around at great length at all the sites previously mentioned you would sell your car quickly in the $39K-41K. It will sell but probably take some time in the $41-44K range. As soon as you start approaching $45k+ things seem to slow down considerably unless it's a trailer queen and has a 427 SO and other such pieces. Regardless I wish you the best.
Kyle
