"Flashing Yellow Light..NO MORE!!!!!"
Police arrest man in California car-theft cases
REGGIE BORGES World Staff Writer
06/16/2002
A local auto show leads to the capture of a suspected thief. Intuition by a Tulsa Police Department officer led to the arrest of a suspected classic-car thief late Saturday at a Tulsa motel.

Ricky Dixon, 40, of San Diego, was arrested at Super 8 Motel, 12416 E. 51st St., on multiple car theft counts in California, San Diego County Sheriff Mike Leathers said.

"When we raided his house we found three stolen Shelby Mustangs in his garage," Leathers said. "This guy fancies himself as a Nicolas Cage-type car thief," referring to the film, "Gone in 60 Seconds."

San Diego officers thought Dixon's affinity for expensive cars might lead him to Tulsa, where a car show was being held.

"We had officers looking for the suspect," Sgt. Tommy Terneus said. "That's when great police work by Officer Justin Aldridge led us to him."

Aldridge saw a suspicious vehicle with California license plates circling the motel and ran the tag number. Officers ran on the call, Terneus said.

After police surrounded the motel, Terneus called the Dixon's room and told him the situation and that he needed to surrender. "He hung up the phone as soon as I made the call and told him the situation," Terneus said.

After attempting to escape through the ceiling of the room, Dixon was captured. Officers searched his car and found a gun in the trunk. Dixon will be arrested on the warrant along with the gun possession charges. Leathers said.

Default Stolen SPF is STILL Stolen

They haven't found the car yet-I included the article because the same ring may be involved....Re-read the original post. Wish they had found it.....actually the local cops could care less...they even saw the trailer rolling after midnight, but thought notihing of it and cannot recall the tow vehicle....

Post Link to pictures/description of SPF 973.

Randall Thomas, webmaster of the Superformance Cobra Owners Forum (SCOF) has put together some webpages with pictures and a description of SPF#973. I'm posting it below for those who read this thread to see and possibly to help someone spot this stolen car.

http://performanceunlimited.com/stolen/

Hope this helps, Julian. We're all really sorry for your loss and hope it turns up in one piece. Good luck, and let us know hat happens.

All the cops need to do is put the thief in a room with the three Shelby Mustang owner for 5 minutes and lock the door....after 5 minutes they would know about any other stolen vehicles and have one less car thief to worry about....

If someone ever steals my car, they better hope the cops catch them before I do,cause they would surey be safer with the cops..............

Wink Volunteers??

I think that the thieves should be volunteers for any and all organ procurement programs and/or utilized as human volunteers for medication experimentation which will benefit the mankind that usually is required to support their sorry posteriors in prison. I'd happily volunteer to perform the organ procurement unfortunately I believe that the incisions should be started in the groin area and extended upwards.
Monkeys and rats have more morals and should be spared from laboratory testings!!

As a member of SCOF (Superformance Cobra Owners Forum), it is my understanding the insurance company has cut the check, but the owner has choosen not to cash it unless his car cannot be found. He'd rather have his car back than the money....again, from what I understand.

I cannot presume to speak for the owner and this information is to the best of my belief. I will offer my apology if I am proven wrong.

Wink Say what Willis??

Semko, easy??
See what happens when you drink too much Raki. I've heard about JM's Patton engine which will be very difficult to part out or unload, but then again, the crooks probably don't know what they have.

Hey all,
How long's the car been missing? Don't think "chop-shop", think "paint shed" (and maybe "uphostery work"). I'm willing to bet that when (if?) they ever find it---he WON'T want it back. A friend living north of Bahstin had his Porsche stolen---even had the theft trace thingamabobby (can't remember---too many Fiberglas fumes today)---the thieves ran hard, not far, and ditched when the cops showed up. Not one wheel on the car resembled any other---they'd done some curb surfing and a little weed-whacking with it. My bet? It's in Mexico, Venezuela, or even Columbia by now! Did any of you see the old 60 Minutes on stolen car sales "south of the border"? It would almost make sense to ARRANGE to have your car stolen and then split the proceeds....
Nonetheless, I commiserate fully with the owner. If I ever had a Cobra with that running gear--I'd drive it upstairs each night!

he has the check. wont cash it til the very last day that it is still legal tender. heart and soul, many bucks and tlc went into this project that was unfortunately taken from him. it could be in japan by now, parted out, in some other part of the country, in calif elsewhere from where it was taken. who knows. however, til the very end of finality, he is hoping for the best. how long ? too long ! but stranger things have happened. it is a custom of customs under the hood and including the hood as previously mentioned. chances of recovery? probably not good...but then again, forums like this make it possible to perhaps stumble onto something that otherwise would be never found. keep your eyes out folks..another weekend where it might strut its stuff under someone not knowing it is a stolen car or the braveness of the thief himeslf. b
