Default Superformance Cobra #052

Back to the top priced for immediate sale.

Superformance Cobra #052. The engine is a Dave Dralle built 501" big-block with Ford aluminum heads, ported & flowed to an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, keeping compression to 9.25:1. Eagle H-beam rods, J&D pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM hydraulic cam, Crane Gold roller rockers, big valve keepers, 9/16" head studs, Aviad pan, Edelbrock aluminum water pump aluminum flywheel and McLeod clutch. A 4-pass Ron Davis aluminum radiator with a 16" Spal directional fan, and Evans zero-pressure coolant keeps this one cool. The engine on original-build dyno produced 535 hp at 5,500 rpm and 565 lbs. torque at 4,500. In April on a chassis dyno it pulled a corrected 509 hp at 5,000 and 615 lbs. torque at 4,000 after ±2,400 miles on engine. The Holley vacuum secondary flat-top, choke milled off, carb is a C&J Engineering-built unit pulling 855 cfm at 6,000 positioned inside a polished turkey pan with K&N oval 2" filter. Ford/MSD ignition and 11 mm wires. Ford Thunderbird independent 8.8" rear with Ford 327 gears. TKO transmission with 0.63 overdrive and McLeod hydraulic clutch. This is a well sorted car in very good condition. $37,500obo. krodillas@attbi.com or call at 323-855-0005cel or 323-815-9005 office.

Default surprised

I would have thought you'd have a lot more interest in this car at this price! I think people are concerned about 2 things, why would you be selling it so fast after having owned it for such a short period of time. I know you explained the real estate situation. Perhaps the other issue is that this was one of the first superfomance cars brought into the US and there may be bugs that were worked out in the later cars. Not sure, but it sounds like a good deal, anybody care to provide the market commentary!

I must say I'm a bit surprised as well. As for the car there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact that is why I think I'll just finance it to free some money up and keep it. The thing that's awesome about this car is that it's developing similar horsepower to the 460 crate motor but with 9.25:1 compression instead of 11:1. The engine was built by one of the top Ford guys on the west coast. In fact it's my understanding that he was a factory Shelby engine builder back in the 60's. I can run this thing all day long on regular unleaded unless I think I'm going to be in heavy traffic or running it particularly hard. The thing is awesome. Granted life would be a bit more comfortable if I sold it but a lot more fun if I don't. Oh, by the way the only other reason I was willing to sell was because I also have a nearly completed Contemporary. Hopefully that answers whatever concerns are out there if any. Who knows maybe it's just the economy but oh well. If someone wants an incredibly well sorted and fast car give me a call.

nothing wrong with the early SPFs ...i have #156 and most of the evolutionary 'running changes' made by spf over time as they contiinue to upgrade the product can be retrofitted to earlier cars. at this price someone can do a lot of retrofit upgrades and still be well below the new cost today !!! my car was built in 1996 and it stands tall with exceptional paint and fit/finish today as do the newer cars looks as good paintwise etc as when it was new. it looks new despite its age and miles ! as I said, nothing wrong with the older cars vs the new...in this case someone is getting a great value (as this buyer did when he bought it not long ago as I had a friend who considered buying it but bought new instead). if it is as represented this is a lot of car for the money, i would not sell mine for that low a price. bill.
