I can't view the gallery through Netscape, have to use Explorer. Thought my question was reasonable and polite. Unlike the seller states, some of us are in the market for a new cobra,
I have big block fever and won't settle for less than 500hp on a chasis dyno.

You know, it's funny, here ads are free, so is the feedback. You want to reduce the feedback,
buy an ad in HEMMINGS, COBRA COUNTRY, ROAD & TRACK etc. Pay hundreds, get less informed
buyers and hope to sell the car.

The reply I got indicates that I asked an out of line question. 500HP on an engine dyno, through
mufflers most likely will translate to less than 400hp if lucky. Again, see what Turk's put out
at DVSFII in the warm humid air.

I don't want to be part of a saga but wanted to comment on your first post. We have a local ERA with street trim and a 428. It's the same (very nice) color! Nice car, I hope you get what it's worth out of it. I can e-mail a picture if you're interested. (I can't figure how to post them duh)
Cheers

I have never gotten involved in one of these "threads" before ,but after all of this I have to ask one question. If you guys (Bonyhadi-Whatever that means)are so ate up with horsepower why don't you call Peter @ ERA and build your own damn car! You have 1697 posts listed by your name so it is obvious you are making a career of giving people a hard time. This guy is selling a nice car & trying to be honest in his description. The only reason he lost credibility w/ you is because he doesn't want to waste his time on someone who has absolutely NO intention of buying his car. I have owned 2 ERA cars; #208 built by ERA for ESPN commentator Bill Stephens and #402 built by Cobra Restorer's for Jacky Jones. I never asked how much horsepower the damn things had. They weigh 2550 lbs and run like stink w/ even 300HP.

GO AWAY!

289Cobra,

What a beauty! I am pretty sure you will get that price---and therefore--Good Luck.

Mickmate,

Note the race-boats in my gallery---I took those up at Wolfesboro last year---in the car/boat show, that gorgeous green ERA you refer to was there---if you contact the owner, he'll tell you a story that'll leave you sleepless for weeks. Seriously...he got it out of an estate for the price of a long-block rebuild---no fecal matter---the whole car. I'm not sure about the exhaust routing, though. 289Cobra's set up is so-o-o-o-o-o cool. I'd jump, but I'm now deeper than the initial deposit on another car.

jddunkle:

amen cubed

Chow to all,

Wink What a Small World!

Fred,

Thanks for the nice words about my ERA. You'll be surprised to know that the boat builder who restored the "miss Severen" race boat in one of your photos is the same guy who purchased my 289 slabside car last year. What a small world! Thanks again.

Thumbs up ERA#561 now on Cobra Country Site!

FYI All,

ERA #561 is now listed for sale on CobraCountry.com ...... at least there I won't have to read through a bunch of rediculous "comments" from people who have no intention of buying the car............

I wish you luck w/ the ERA. I really enjoyed the 2 that I owned. I really don't believe there is a closer replica out there. I know the ERA cars are a bit pricey but as I have always said to anyone who has no intention of spending $250,000.00 for an original car; "this is as close as you are gonna get!".

Or, as I tell people like Bonyhadi-(whatever the hell that means): I guess giving people a hard time about cars that you will NEVER buy is as close as YOU are gonna get.

To everyone who can actually afford a Cobra or already owns one- LET 'ER RIP!

289Cobra,
Well I'll be....that boat has a Rolls Royce Gremlin (non-supercharged Merlin, I believe)...it GOES! Speaking of ageless wonders, we did an organic (!) sandblasting (with walnut shells) on Mark Mason's "Baby Bootlegger". "Baby Bootlegger's" engine is a 1916 Huspano Sueeza (Sp?) with double o-h cams, sodium-filled valves, and several more tricks normally associated with Porsches, etc. of the 1990s+!!! Re your car...I've already committed to another car but believe me, yours would be it, otherwise.

jldunkle,
Stay the course, lad...you can't pull a reenactment of the Hindenberg around here without getting a fecal tsunami in return---kudos...and....(the old usual)...Duck and Cover! That exchange reminded me of the Black Knight in "The Quest...",
aside from the above-mentioned spectacle!
Cheers

Hey Gordo:

Is that 425HP you brag about in your user info on your car at the flywheel OR "at the rear wheels"..................

P. S. If Bonyhadi was "really" interested in my car he would have contacted me directly, instead of wasting his and my time with the stupid dialog that has taken place here on ClubCobra. My email is easily accessible by looking me up on the user info here on this site. I've had several people contact me directly already - which proves my point and the point made by others here: that some people make a career out of trashing others cars on these forums - the "FOR SALE" forum is just that - not a place to debate the merits of, or your "opinions" of the cars listed here. That belongs in the "GENERAL COBRA TALK" section. Now can we please get on with some questions and comments from "SERIOUS buyers!!!!!!"
