Turk,
Why are you selling such a nice ERA?Did someone from the East Coast convince you to get a REAL Cobra?
I wonder how long it would take me to turn your ERA into Track Turd II? Got a nice little 358 Cup motor that would really make that thing run.
Good luck with the sale.

Cobish
With that kind of investment strategy, I am surprised you still have $12,000 left to buy my car. Borrowed money perhaps?
Do you think it will go down that far before someone buys it!
Gosh I hope not, then I will have to come up with more out of pocket cash to make the deal go through.
You got me confused with some other nit wit. We all kind a look alike. I am NOT buying a CSX car, because it is REAL..I am buying one because my car has too many miles on it!!!
Please don't wait until it is down to $12,000. you are going to be heart broken when some one else buys it for $12,2000.
Racer X#99
Roger,
That is the nicest thing you said to me for weeks. Thanks for the compliments on the car. I like your car too. It is YOU...never mind, that is a different thread.
As for the East Coast influence. Nope. Chances of me converting to Judaism is better than taking Replica advice from him.
I am doing it so that new debate betwen two CSX owners can begin.
One claiming he has the best REPLICA in the Country, and the other one still claiming he has an ORIGINAL REAL BLACK REPLICA. You do know who is who in this match up, don't you?
I don't think the small blocks fit cars of these caliber. Give it to someone who can use that motor to commute.
Thanks for bringing the post to the top. I need all the help, I can get. Before the damn thing drops to the price range cobish can afford.

No track time?
So I am just making a wild guess here but it looks like the West Coast Gashole gang has gone completely Show with absolutley no chance of doing any track time.Even us Big time wannabe racers" The Crankoids" would not venture out on the track with those Aluminum Cobras.
Looks like the 10% club may become the 5% club with all those new REAL Replicas hitting the streets.
That East Coast attorney must be REAL persuasive.

Premature exclamation?
You might be a little premature there Roger... (Your post--not the other "thing")
Mine will be out on the track in due course after it's run in and I learn about it. It's a dam car, being built to be used. Proof will be in a pic. Although I'm a bit concerned about the future rollbar requirements you posted about in the other thread. Assolutely autocross though--but I'm worried about the future there as well. Thankfully, the San Francisco SCCA Region has Open Street Prepared where the regs are more relaxed. On track--so far SpeedTrial (puts together events at Willow Springs) is not yet looking at roll cages--but who knows?
BTW--won't be able to call us waxers. Several of us are leaving them bare metal--Windexers?

Slabside???
Jamo,
If I remember correctly you were always talking 289 Cobra. I hope this is what you ordered/bought. Hate to think you would be putting one of those anchors in your new car even if it is made out of aluminum.(the anchor)
Whatever, good luck with the new ride.

I'll still dream of a slabside--but alas, I've fallen captive to the darkside...
Kirkham S/C--the anchor will be aluminum (Shelby/Arias). I know it won't handle as well--doubt anything will match the "significantly setback one" for that. Only way I'd do a BB (keeping the weight down--he!!, maybe I'll go on a diet).
Thanks--appreciate it.

Roger,
This is the umpteenth time you will be recorded as being wrong.
1-He wasn't pursuasive at all.
2-We still don't like him.
3-His car was not what it was CRANKED (sorry) up to be.
4-Mine is going racing in some capacity. Especially if I can get some factory sponsorship.
5-There will be nothing to wax!
Maybe a little tire dressing. That is all.
I still think the Gasholes and the Crankoids have to come up with a mutually agreable place to duke it out. Sooner or later, we will have to do it.
The challenge will be to prove to each other that each side is REALLY a bigger Gashole than they appear. We have a clear jump on youz guys.
TURK
Weren't you the one telling us less weight....more track compatible?
Here I shed 17 lbs in body weight, you are still picking on me.

Let the games begin
I certainly agree that the two sides should duke it out on the track. And since you guys are more experienced at shipping cars a long distance the obvious choice would be Watkins Glen NY. I know you are thinking " that's a lot more than meeting halfway"
You guys are certainly being overcompensated in you workplace endevors so you guys can afford to travel where we cannot. We are all driving well used cars towed to the track by old trucks and trailers. You guys on the otherhand all have brand new toys with which to do battle. We have a 5 hour tow to the Glen, you guys have a 30 minute taxi ride from Elmira airport to the track to meet up with your crews who will be waiting for you with engines warmed up.
Lets start planning.

Seems to me an olympics-style games is in order--track, autocross, burnouts (on the track under controlled conditions as a nod to your concerns), chugging, mooning (I seem to recall one of you has performed that act recently), sheep wrestling--we'll use Johnny's little lovely/oils up better, BBQ cookoff, etc. That'll fill up the first day.
BTW--after we get these cars, we will be broke--can you supply the fuel.
Why don't we talk to DV--make this a spectator thing for the SFIII, but only true Crankoids and Gasholes may compete.

Jamo,
Do you remember seing any TRUE Crankoids at DVSFII?
I don't.
What makes you think they will be there at DVSFIII? Hell, by our standards it is held practicaly in their back yard.
Let me guess, same old tired excuse . "We have small blocks, 7 out 8 broke" AGAIN and they are working on them between food fights or whatever they do during their get togethers.
No sir, their gatherings are not dignified and proper like ours are.
Blue collar food, blue collar beer, and blue collar engines.

Jamo, here is an excerpt form an email back from Driving Concepts performance driveing school about the roll cage thing.
"I am also forwarding a copy of this email to one of our friends, Tom Bell, who works a lot with the Central California BMW Group….Tom was instrumental in developing a ‘removable roll cage’ for his Z3 and has shared this information with a lot of our students…it might be something that would work with your Cobra, not sure but worth a try"
I haven't received a reply from Tom yet (this came to me on Fri) but it sounds worth a try. Am assuming it's legal for NASA since it was a NASA license I was inquiring about. I talked to a fabricator on Friday night and he thinks a four point cage is quite doable.

Turk: Like it or not you'll have a REAL Cobra (assuming you do buy a Shelby). Not original but REAL. If you wanted a replica you could just keep your car, drop in a new engine and save a bundle or buy another ERA. Lets be REAL.
If you want to refer to your new Shelby as a replica Cobra go right ahead and be self deprecating as to the car. Just like the rest of the Shelby wanabees. It makes them feel better about their own car and it will allow you to remain "politcally correct and popular". Thats fine. No skin off my nose. I understand. Just so happens I don't care for political correctness. I call it the way I see it.
Never gave you advice on replicas. Yes, I offered to give you advice on Shelby Cobras (there is a difference) and my experience with SAI. Sorry guess you don't need it. Offer withdrawn. Oh yeah. I'll convert to Islam before offering any assistance again.

Turk: You shouldn't forget to use your little smiley faces. Remember you taught me that little nuiance of CC commuication. This way I know which Turk I'm dealing with. I'm a literalist otherwise.
Love you too.
Am I to understand that you will be trading in your waxing pad for a Brillo pad for the new car?

Evan,
The reason I hardly ever use the smileys anymore is because I find myself using the, easier more ready to use POST Reply at the bottom of the page. Only way to get smileys there is to go back and edit the post just to insert smileys.
I do it with people whom I don't know all that well. With you , even Cranky and many others I started leaving them out, because I assumed we know each other by now.
Gosh Evan, you and I have been going steady now for over a year. You still being shy.
BTW, your post was devoid of any cartoons as well, you sensitive guy, you!
I hope the conversion goes well for you. Welcome to the world of retail!!

Turk -- Evan,
Not for nothing, but that was the shortest amount of posts you guys needed (ever) to kiss and make-up on one thread.
It brought a tear to my eye.
Turk -- You will discuss proper number of rivets and placement with Evan, right?
Evan -- You will discuss the nuiances of communications to others regarding a real unoriginal Shelby with Turk, right?
Good luck Turk with your new car -- I am watching the price on your engineless car drop and will call just as soon as it hits my number. Wouldn't that be something. Sending your car all the way to the east coast. Pete will never let me near the shop with that car though.

Thanks for all the hijacking of posts taking place in my attempt to sell my car.
It is so fitting! God know I have highjacked my share of the posts in the past!
Paybacks are a canine of the lesser gender!
Only good coming out of this barrage of exchanges, by the time we are all done, it will have as many views as the "BlackCobra" did, and you would think I should be able to sell it before it drops to low $8,000 !!for that kind of exposure..
If any prospect came in here looking for a straight answer about the car, he'd be hard pressed to find it. Oh, well I don't really want to sell it that bad I guess. Thanks for bringing it to the top often!
Today it is at $50,000.00 and dropping!. Don't wait forever....
Did I tell everyone about the 256 hours of prep and paint?
