Default Another unfinished cobra for sale

The time has finally come for me to admit that I'll *NEVER* finish this d@mn car and should just sell it.

As recently as two (maybe three, who knows) summers ago it was mechanically complete and driving around the block. In the intervening months it has been taken partially back apart again.

Location:
Everett, Wa

Details:
Johns Custom Fab 427 Street body & frame
Ford 9" rear and MII front.
'91 302 retrofit to carb...I can't even rememer all the components...once I actually look under the tarp I'm sure it'll all come back. I do have the complete Ford fuel inj. setup that was taken off from the fuel rails all the way to the ECU.

Attached is a photo from happier days when it was "this close" to being done before I felt the need to improve it.....

email me for more info as I'm sure this post will unleash the floodgate of memories and all the minutia will come back in painstaking detail...

Jeff,

To bad that you can't get the car finished and enjoy it. I would never start another one either. If I ever get another car it will be a turn key one. I started mine in 1995 and finished it in 1996. Another guy here started his at the same time I did and sold it to a friend of mine a year ago and he finished it last Summer. I don't know if it is true or not but I once heard that about 80% of the kits started by people were never finished by the person starting it. Good luck.

Jeff,
Are you sure you want to sell your car?
I do know how you feel. I've been building my EM for over four years and at times I regret getting into the project.
Is there anything we can do to encourage you?

Jeff,

I thought I would be done by now after 2 years and I am just now at the "go-kart" stage. I have been the victim of my own cycle of "take it off and re-do it again" that has sucked up a lot of progress. But my last project took 8 years, so I am way ahead of that one!

I hope we can find a way to help you hang in there. looks like you were very close at one point.

John

Thanks for the moral support. It's been a loooong time since I hung out a Club Cobra...maybe if I spend a few weeks participating I'll get the fire again..

I go back and forth every few months about whether to start back up on the project or not. I just don't seem to have the time it takes to devote to making positive strides.

I had a few emails pointing out like David that I neglected to mention $$ :-) Sorry, I think it was such a step just to surrender that I overlooked that minor detail.

I'm looking to get $15K for the whole thing. It may be steep, but heck, I don't need the money and the worst thing that happens is it stays in may garage a few more years until I DO have the time and drive to start back up again :-)

Can you post a few pictures...I need another project possibly. Would you be interested in some sort of trade plus cash ? I have a 1970 GTO convertible for sale at the moment.

Jeff - Another option is to let ol' Double Venom finish that car. I'd bet it won't cost you THAT much and for sure he would work with you. Hang tough, it really is worth the trip.

Default new day - new attitude :-)

Well in part due to the moral support offered by the Club Cobra members, and probably also due to the sun finally coming out I have re-evaluated my position on the Cobra. I am no longer activly looking to sell it.

I figure I'll dust it off this spring and see if I can plug away a bit more.

In the meantime to get my "fast Ford" fix I baught a Jag XK8 coupe, that should keep me pre-occupied for a while :-)

Jeff,
When ever a partial kit comes up for sale, I just have to look.

I have one thing to say to you fella. "Da' Fling!"

If you come to the Fling, you will go directly home, and not come out of your garage until that Cobra is sliterhing and rumbling!

Dv...it's that simple

Jeff,

Your Cobra looks good enough to drive. What do you still need to do besides paint? If you lived around here you could offer up some beer and pizza and you would probably have 5 or 6 volunteers come over and help you finish it up in a couple of weekends.

Hang in there!

Jeff,
It took me 4 years to finish my cobra. I hit a lull in the middle of the project and got a little pissed. Here's what I did. Take an ordinary piece of paper. Start at the top with #1 and begin to list all of the things left to be completed. No matter how small the task, writed it down with a # next to it. Now, each weekend, simply tell yourself that, for example, #7 install carpet, is going to be completed this weekend come h*ll or high water. The following weekend move on to the next #. Before you know it, it will be finished. I did this and one weekend I stepped back and Ta-Da. It was done. Afterwards I was so mad because I had realized how close it had been to being completed the whole time. Well, giver a shot and let me know how it goes.

Default Instead of reposting :-)

I figured I bump an old thread back to the top :-)

It's now been 1 1/2 years since I posted this originally and this time I mean it. It's gonna go to a good home. If you live in the Seattle area I can even haul it for you.

Drop by , check it out, leave happy :-)
