I have done some research on HDR and I think they build one of the most sophisticated cobras out there.Top quaility components with a very well thought out chassis geared towards high performance.Check out the web site. chuck

Chuck thanks for the feedback. I read a bit about them yet I cannot for the life of me understand how they can produce a car at their low prices. What is the catch?

Thanks,
juanone

Juanone,

I have did a lot of research on the Highlander Daytona Coupe when I thought I was going to be able to afford one. A friend of mine who is an airline pilot flew over to their shop and was really impressed with the whole operation and he said the cars are first rate in build and design. Parts are all top of line and you have an option of asking for other brands if you want. Shop is very clean and work is precise. If you have a chance why don't you visit them and take a look at their cars ? I am still interested in getting one but health and finances are a problem at this time for me. I also gor e-mails from a couple of people who have them and they are more than happy with theirs.

HDR

Juanone,
I have an HDR car, 427 roadster done in FIA trim. It took about 7 months to complete car partly to design changes as car was in production and a shortage of help on his ( Rick Ellis ) end at the time. We tried to make a 427 look like an FIA, due to the fact that we were unable to buy an FIA body we improvised. He used a Hunter body which was fine with me as I prefer the narrow hip look and it seemed to fit in well with our concept,we raked w/s, used FIA gauges, center mount fuel fill, 27 gal fuel cell with rollover valve, Halon system, etc.
His aluminum detail work is outstanding as you can noted in my gallery and the car shown on his website (which is mine) will attest. hdr coupe.com.
The car is basically a track car set up for street use. Check out his frame. The only issue I had was with brakes and we are fixing this now with different calipers. I put them on yesterday but it is really tough working on the car in a trailer and weather is just not co-operating. I will road test after I re-bleed brakes and it warms up alittle here on the island. Also some sand and salt laying around due to crappy weather.
Car is powered by 351W, .30 over. All quality internals, the JE pistons are a work of art. T5Z , Auburn Pro Gold rear, Speedway 9" rear, hollow gun axles, Outlaw brakes.
There was no short cuts or jury rigging. Car was made to be run hard on track or street. (Have to keep my wife away from that statement) , I had a near fatal accident roadracing motorcycles, Formula 1 and 750 mod. prod. at Bridgehampton years ago and racing mentioned in this house is a touchy subject. As a result of accident I have some mobility problems but I went out to MT. during planning and build stages of the car and we were able to work around this. Actually fwd. facing rollbar is an asset for me getting in and out of car.
Give Rick a call 1-888-718-8702, he will talk your ear off, he is passionate about his cars. Don't know what his time frame is now looks like he may have a major venture coming up. Hoping for the absolute best for him. Also his wife is due to have baby any day now so he is one happy guy.
Tom S
PS. Email me if you want to talk, I will give you my number by email if you want.

They build a right fine car. Built like a race car should be built.
