Gauging interest: 427 Kirkham

Seeing if there is any interest out there for this car. Has correct 427 sideoiler, painted McCluskey daytona blue, black interior. Less than 1000 miles, looks like an original, minus the serial number. Car was appraised at 125k, email me with COBRA as the subject if interested. Thanks RT1Racing@hotmail.com

Crazy Californians

I remember McClusky's blue being popular in the 80's because someone decided that Guardsman was too dull. Then Shelby's coupe was painted in that color. I frankly don't understand it if one is trying to imitate 1965.
McClusky certainly does incredible work but since Original Cobra's have been trading at big bucks it appears the trends along with the buyers expect original colors. If you pay 5 million for a coupe and have to repaint it, the cost is only a fraction of the cost. If you buy a replica for 100,000+, your are talking over 10% of the price in order to re-paint it.

I am questioning where you are going with this. The car is painted said color because it is a stunning combination, end of story. The car is not an original and never will be (it also isnt priced like and original), it is, however about as close as your going to get. Most knowledgable people in the field will tell you that the color only matters in terms of whether or not the owner enjoys it.

Color

Oh, You know.....
Just airing a thought...
I am sure it is pretty. Actually, the first real Cobra I was ever in was that color CSX 3041..

I heard a 427 Kirkham was a no sell at RM in Boca last week. The high bid was in the 50's or so. It is on the RM site.
I don't know the specifics on that car but it probably wasn't that great. CSX 3006 sold for almost 600,000
-Good luck with the car..

First, let me preface this with the fact that I am probably one of the Kirkham's biggest fans -

That said, are you trying to see how close to the appraisal price you can get? If so, seems way high, at least to me. Yes I am sure the car is wonderful, but you can start with a Kirkham roller for ~$53K (and SAI's painted roller is ~$80K with options), if my memory serves me correct and it I can get a 427 SO, Top-loader and paint for much less than $125K.

Regards,

Keith

Yes, basically looking to see what the market looks like. I know that is what it is appraised at, but that does not neccasarily mean that is what people will pay. I am trying to get a feel for what the car would go for, and if the numbers work then it will go. Thanks for the replys
