sorry I thought I had said this before.... 65k and it comes with trailer etc... I am not going to take off for things that I feel increase the price of the car.... You want it that badly and you don't like it, we'll talk a price around what I want and after u buy it you change it.... it's only $700 for a new bonded hood from ERA, I *might* keep the hood and put a new one on (painted flawlessly like the other one) and take off a grand or so, but thats all of the buyer and me to talk about. Anyway thanks for the interest, basically you want the car, you email me or call me and then we'll go from there. If not, thanks for the kind comments

Also, don't mean to critisize.... but you honestly think someone would paint over that mural..... it isn't something you stick on.... it was totally airbrushed etc, I mean I dont care if someone changes it after they buy it, but im going to deduct for them to do it? know what i mean? dunno just my thoughts.

Bill Wells makes some valid points concerning "originallity". In general it seems as the price of a Cobra goes up, that becomes a more significant factor in re-sale.

But in this case, the car appears to be very well done, customized in such a way that it might "work" at this price range. The under hood mural is a nice touch. Obvioulsy the car is a "custom" in a number of ways. Tough call with this one, one of a kind, narrows the potential pool of buyers at the least, but maybe thats OK.

Hey, at least the discourse here is keeping your post "alive" and near the top, lol.

Ernie

Edit: Responding to Turks comments further down, he's right about "normally" not messing with a guys post who is trying to sell his car. But this IS an unusual car, especially for an ERA.

Lets see, paint over the mural for lets say $300 or buy a new hood, prep. it and then paint it on both sides for a total of around $1,500. Sounds like somebody would be $1,200 ahead of the game to paint over the mural. I don't think most people would be willing to spend $1,200 to keep this hood as an extra.

Remove roll bar, replace dash and change seat covers, around $2,000.

My guess if you would take $55k for it with the above changes, or $52k as is, it would be sold in less than a couple of weeks.

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$ about the hood, just stating the facts.

I was about the say something about the traffic on a post someone is trying to sell a car, but when I read the posts I noticed zacincceo solicited constructive comments. Here are mine.

If this was something other than an ERA some of the personalized touches may have added value. On an ERA it is not a welcome bonus.

Most people are looking for an ERA for it's faithfulnes to originality.

I understand you built it so the way you like i...but you are trying to sell it to someone who will like it more the other way.

It is time for a makeover!

Loose the mural, order a new dash, and if the stipes are taped...remove at least one set if not both.

The car will sell faster that way than it will, dressed-to-kill.

I appricaite the comments about the hood etc, ALL of the stripes are hand painted, so no one even ask me to repaint the car lol.... The mural will be discussed with the person that buys it. I still feel it's unfair to replace the roll bar and patch it up... bascially I appreciate the comments on how to get my car to sell, im selling it as it is now and thats that (not coming off mean) I can wait for as long as I want till I find the right buyer, if I dont I might even end up keeping it. Thanks all!

The pictures are rather large, and high quality about 400-600k per photo so that is the reason. If I make them smaller then they will lose their quality etc... Sorry

I usually try to stay out of these things but I can tell you what I looked for and what I payed...

I payed mid 40's for my car back 3 years again..since I have put about $15,000 into the car....I know I couldn't get more than $50 for it today probably but that depends on if I left the webers on.

Ok these are things that determine the value of the car.....paint who cares it can be changed....so the stripes and nice mural are neat but don't figure into the price for me....

Engine is right, pipes are good you get credit for the stainless...looks like you have the aluminum engine kit...good...Wood dash will need to be recovered if it can if not then you are going to spend ~$500 on a new dash from ERA? I bought one 4 years ago and can't remember the price.

5 lug wheels.....bad....kicks the price down...pin drives help...the second roll bar is great for safety but most people will be looking to fix the holes and drop the passenger bar.

Now if you are asking $65K then I wish you luck...I believe there is one out there on cobra country that was asking $65 or so and it hasn't sold that I have seen and has very little work to do on it.

Now the question you have to ask is what would it cost someone to order one done up without the extra's that you custom added.

I just went through building a house and the hardest thing to do was to build it with resell in mind...unfortunately you have to do the same with a cobra...if you plan to sell it you have to keep from adding alot of things you like and aim more towards the general purchasing public.

Located in Amherst, MA, I'm interested in leasing a Cobra from around early April until mid May. If you are having trouble selling your ERA as is, I'd be very keen to "baby-sit" it for a month or so. Of course, I'd be willing to pay a handsome sum for the pleasure.

Regards,
Nikko

Zac-
I just checked out all of your pics again. It really is a nice looking car. I like the wood grain dash- not original, but very nice. If you haven't done so already, you also might want to consider listing it on CobraCountry. A lot of cars seem to get sold there.

Good Luck with the sale.

Mike

Zak,

I am new to the Cobra scene. I think you Cobra is BAD ASS! For one to keep with the stock look will not always satisfy. All things custom is my motto!

So rock on!!

Default if you want to sell it

Hey zac,

I tend to agree with most of the previous posts. I'd bet 9 out of 10 people that buy used ERAs or build them spend the extra money to obtain one because of the extra originality looking details and quality.

If you expect to attract the 9 vs. the 1 of 10 out there, straying too far from the original flavor and look will either hurt the final selling price and number of interested buyers. Also, for what it's worth to you, just state your price in an ad. It saves a lot of wasted time for you and dreamers. You will always get offers. If you don't get offers, just lower the price until you do. Or, ya never know, you might just find that one person that loves murals and wood dashes in an ERA. just my .02 cents. Good Luck.
