Nice car. Are you a distributor/dealer or just put these cars together for a hobby ? I don't have the money together just yet but if that is the going price it seems like a much better alternative to the Superformance choice. Again nice car.

Jeff - a very nice car - I would very much appreciate if you could advise me where you get that style of valve covers - it shows the level of detail you thought about.
Thanks ever so much, luke-44

Fordracer/Luke-44 -
Thanks for the kind words…. We build these cars as a hobby. This car is the seventh Unique Cobra we have built since 1990. I have been to a lot of car venues over that time and have seen a lot of original and replica Cobras. Each car we have built is done with great attention to detail, learning from the last car and trying to do something to make it look more original and/or set it apart from the Cobra next door. The valve covers used on this car are 1963 Ford valve covers modified to replicate the ones used on the competition Cobras. I have to give my Dad credit for that. He’s our "Phil Remington" in the garage. As far as where you can pick some up, I believe Fran Kress is still selling them. You should be able to find his name and numbers in the SAAC listings.

I have a set of those valve covers off my CSX 2189 car if you are interested in buying them. I am installing the twin stack, a la the Daytona Coupe type, on my car. Email me if you have an interest.

Here is a picture of the truck. I did add some aluminum over the hinge plate since the picture was taken.

Cal/Snakeeyes -
The car is still for sale. I have had a few inquiries, but for the most part it has been slow. It make you wonder if the market is just that slow or if it goes back to the old 289 vs. 427 debate?
Right now the market is so inundated with 427 cars. I would think a person would want a 289 car solely for the fact that there wouldn’t be twenty or so just like it at the local car show. Not to mention the prominent place the 289’s hold in automotive racing history.

Jeff,
I'm afraid that until there's a believable, sustained, economic recovery it will be difficult to sell these things. I may or may not finally have mine sold, supposed to talk with the guy about payment and delivery later this morning. As I'm sure you've already found out, however, there is no shortage of people who'd like to steal the car in this climate. Fortunately, I don't have to sell mine right now, if I can't get a decent (but still pretty low) price. Best of luck, it will work out.

Tom/John -
Thanks for the support and potential leads. The car is still for sale.
I drove the car to a local show today. What a great ride!! I don’t get the chance to drive it much since we had our daughter this spring. I forgot how much fun it is to get behind the wheel on a nice day and just drive… So I guess its not all bad not selling it right away.

FOR SALE: 289 Competition Cobra by Unique - PRICE REDUCED
Before sealing the car into storage for a long Wisconsin winter, I decided to reduce the price of my 289 to $39,900. This car is brand new with 500 shake down miles on the odometer and you will not find a nicer car for the money.
If you are interested, please contact me at 715-878-4055 (evenings) or 715-577-9478 (days).
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
You have a very beautiful FIA. If looking for a FIA body style, your car absolutely rates first class! Unique offers an excellent product and obviously, you know how to put one together. Hope you find a home for it soon.

At this price it should sell quickly. I wish I had the money! Best of Luck!
