Would you be able to post a pic or two of the engine compartment? Thank you.

I know I never contacted you but I was looking at your car pretty seriously, but in the end I really wanted a yellow car with black stripes. I settled for white stripes...oh well. I dont know how badly you need the money but dont knuckle under too much, the car is beautiful. Anyone looking at it remember the roller alone cost $38,000. Car is bordering on a steal. Will you pay for shipping at this price?

Bandit 1 - no more price adjustments?

Questions:

1. Is this Cobra in "perfect" shape, i.e. paint, engine, etc. etc.?

2. Are there any issues, like overheating or drivability (with all that horsepower)?

What sort of action are you getting on the sale effort? As posted on another thread, I'm looking at a $33K ERA, but I'm sorta intrigued by your Cobra, e.g. the look, the horsepower. Of course, then there is the price (not that it is not justified).

It is a crazy market out there now
It sure is.

Here's the deal, there is a guy in AZ that has a Cobra for sale, but it's made by Cobra Performance Car Company - I have not run across that manufacturer to date. But, it has a 1966 427 Hollman Moody medium riser side-oiler in it, along with real Halibrand's. He wants $45K.

How does this stack up against your Cobra?

Have you heard of the manufacturer?

Frank, you are doing the right thing pricing it where you started. For those that followed the sale of mine, it was priced where Frank had started and sold within one week. I bought it at that price point as well. Same color car, but with an FE block and an older SPF. This is a heck of a deal for someone smart. Good luck moving it Frank, and best wishes on your venture. Hold your price.

Mr. Vegan 2:

I will be totally honest with you, when you buy a Cobra it is like rolling dice. The questions you must ask are...

Is it safe?

How was the car built (was it a person putting their first car together, is it "factory" built, did a professional shop build it?)?

Are there any "hidden" problems (just putting a entertainment center together you can do it wrong, did they leave anything out, etc..)?

Is the company going to be around in a couple of years (or even tomorrow)?

Are the parts available (alot of companies use "custom" built parts, if they are no longer around then you will have to pay someone to "custom" build you a replacement part)?

How will this car drive (will it pull to the right, does it vibrate at highway speeds, etc...)?

How good was the rebuild of the engine (most 427 c.i. engines are "rebuilt", did the engine builder do all of things needed?, any shorcuts? Was the engine builder a "427 expert"?)?

The reason I went with Superformance is their reputation with the quality of the car. From the doors, trunk, suspension, frame, wiring, paint job, etc. is all standarized. When you buy a car and put it together, who is going to paint it? How much will it cost? Will it last?

The Superformance Cobra's drive like a new car, you have the confidence that the wheel isn't going to come off at highway speeds, etc...

As far as the 427 c.i. engine, I doubt the engine has all "new" parts on it. ANY 427 c.i. engine part is going to be very expensive. I doubt it has the horsepower/torque of the 520 c.i. engine in my Cobra. It is probably a 4-speed, my car has a Tremec TKO 5-speed. In my opinion, the 429/460 engine is the best (power, reliability, etc...) Ford big block engine ever made.

Competition Motorsports (now Performance Engineering) builds and installs atleast 80% of the engines for the Superformance dealership in Ohio (Dynamic Motorsports), 99% of all of the engines they build are for Cobra's. They have built the same engines over and over again and they have long ago got the "bugs out". My engine is a "custom built" engine, other than the pre-1974 block there is all new parts.

Most of the used Cobra's for sale are like any "used" car, they need work done on them. My car is ready to "gas and go".

Very interesting and insightful post, thanks.

It does appear that you have gone the extra mile to insure that your Cobra "experience" was a good one. I suspect that a lot of owner's cut corners, due to money or other issues.

It appears that you put together your Cobra with no shortcuts, no money considerations, correct?
