Torque PULL
Hey,
This is my first time on this site and was wondering if anyone has any insite for me. I just purchased the most amazing factory five. The car was put together well including a supercharged bored out 347. The problem is the car pulls like a mule to the right on hard accel. Is this common and are there any fixes. gearing etc..?

rear end aleignment and setup messed up. Need to resolve, very dangerous with a 90 in waterbug.
check over on the FFcobra.com forum. Lots of FFR experince there, sure they can get you on the straight an narrow

pulls on exceleration
Lots of possible reasons but could be as easy as different rear tire diameters. Jack up the rear and measure tire diameter ( a 1/4 inch delta is out of spec ). 4 wheel alignment will pinpiont area to look at. Hpoe it is easy fix.

Maybe you have a spool rear with a broke axle = one wheel drive.

Hey,
First off thanks for the reply's.Jim who i purchased this awsome machine from bases the pull on the power of the motor. I'm not convinced. I have a Hunter 4 wheel alignment system at my shop and had a chance to put it on. The toe was slightly off. Not enough to create the tremendous amount of pull i expierience. I also noticed there are no motor mount bushings at all. Could this somehow be adding stress directly to the frame? In turn cause the pulling?

torque pulling car
No- the fact that the engine mounts are solid would just xfer noise and vibrations back into the car. I run an alky funny with solid or no suspention without it changing lanes from engine torque. We do preload the chasis to help it launch straight but we're talking apples and oranges.

after accelerating hard and car pulling to right what happens
when you suddenly back off throttle does it go left
you might need to check wheelbase from side to side
or check rear arms for play in bushings if tire stagger
is different pulling to right means left tire has more circumference
an uneducated guess at best

Pulling right....
As tnlprt indicated, a larger left tire circumference could possibly affect and cause your problem with pulling right under hard throttle.
Another item you might want to check are your motor mounts and the frame possibly flexing (or racking) under torque.
If my memory of physics serves me correctly, when power/torque is applied to a normally aspirated motor, a rotational (mass) force is exerted that tends to throw (the rotating mass) of the engine to the outside (to the right) under normal conditions, this will be observed at the right side of the vehicle (passenger) side being turned or "rotated to the right"on it's axis as you apply more throttle/torque.
Motor mounts that are loose or not properly fastened could allow the transfer of all that torque to the (outside) mount, thereby causing a substantial twist to the right. The suspension geometry has now become compromised with the left front/rear unloading contact with the pavement.
Obviously, this is not a go either with respect to handling or safety.........check this out!
There was once a time that we raced circle track modified's. To illustrate this torque rotation to the outside (right) one racing team was discovered after many years of using a reverse rotating motor (counterclockwise) from former twin screw application in a boat. The result? The harder the car throttled up in a corner, the better it stuck, because rotation (mass) of the motor was thrown to the inside left side - allowing the car's left side to become loaded with the harder the motor pulled - the better the car stuck to the track.......of course, this would only apply to circle tracks with continuous Left turns
Hope this was clear........clear as mud, right??
