My wife picked out my Cobra for me, spent $22,000.00 for turnkey with 300 miles on it. The Make may be the garbage truck of all available kits, but I can't imagine that spending another 20-40 thousand dollars on it that the smile on my face after driving could be any bigger. Sure I would like to have a Kirkham or one from Shelby but it is out my price range. Bet I have almost just as much fun as those who do have them. Purchase or Build what you can afford and have fun. Lots of great cars for sale some real good buys out there. It is still the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

In the last year and a half, have yet to see even a ten year old ERA for anything than $42k. If you find one for $33k you should buy it now. Or let me know where and I'll buy it.

Hey Chaplin, don't try to snake me! I told him I want to know where that ERA was before you did.

OK, fair enough you can have it. But I have a sneaking suspicion an ERA for $33k is not going to materialize anytime soon. You can keep your fingers crossed though.

ERA for $33K is not going to happen. Even in this tough market some keep referring to ERA still has a waiting list of about a year to get a car. Nice cars with proper motors are still selling and bring good money, it is just taking awhile for guys to find buyers.

Be weawey weawey quiet, and maybe I can get an ERA for $33,000.00. That's IF you don't wake up the owner!

It also has real pin-drive Halibrand magnesium Cobra wheels
First, I need to decide to buy it or not by month-end. But I will tell you that it's in the United States.

As to the time to buy comment, I know of an ERA with a 428 FE in the $33K range at this time. There is a Unique at cobracountry.com for $29K (small block) and one for $35K with a 351 and another one just reduced to $35K.
So it just may be the time to buy, as it's not the time to sell.

If this is TRUE, what the hell do you have to think about? Buy it! If you don't buy it post the info on this board and someone else will.
Lots of guys pose as buyers here at CC, talk bad about "the market", and don't do $HIT. I don't have a car because I can't afford one at the moment, but if you are interested in buying a car DO IT!

Are we not being a little too aggressive this date?
As luck has it, I have money and, apparently, you don't (right now). In addition, nothing that you say has any impact on me or my buying habits.
With that said, your use of white trash words will not get you anywhere in life.

Thanks for the compliment - it has worked out well for me! I can now buy a Cobra for cash, as long as it's not over $33K.

about what to do...
vegan2,
if you have not visited this website for long, you will find that members can be generous "if" you are genuine and respectful in tone when making inquires and looking for help. Some of these people have a wealth of information that you can obtain for free, if you are nice.
You see.., it takes YEARS to sort out what is what and what is not in Cobraland... as you will see if you spend the time to do the long-form homework assignment about finding the right used Cobra for you.
Three quick things might help narrow it down for you, in my book:
1. Max budget (How much ya got to spare in your wallet?)
2. Intended Use (Trailer queen & shows, street/track, Highway?)
3. Frequency of usage (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly?)
Usually item #1 is the determining factor of what you'll wind up with. I wouldn't get too hung up on the big block vs. small block thing... There is a long list of pros and cons for each. Resale is a consideration, but if that is a primary focus, then you might want to wait until you are really ready to buy a Cobra. I know people that searched for 2-3 years before buying one, and even then, they still keep looking for something better or different... . In closing, it really comes down to what YOU want and like. Good Luck, and welcome to ClubCobra...

about the $33k ERA
Perhaps the "buyer" read something like 60's "era", or found Carera when searching for the letters "era". This reminds me of when I sold a cobra, a potential buyer said he was thinking about buying a brand new superformance kit for 20k and that he would assemble the whole car, from the chassis up. I said Superformance doesn't sell a "kit" they sell complete cars. The man insisted it was true, I told him he should go buy the Superformance kit and to please leave. (I was very nice about it of course).
I don't know what ever became of a 400 series ERA that was a street version for sale somewhere in New York State advertised on cobra country with a side oiler for 47k. I think there are very few real steals out there, if something is priced a little too good to be true, then there's probably more to the story. Lots of contemporary cobras come to mind. At the same time, I still see lots of guys that put a brand new SPF together for @55k and then try to sell them for $60k and say $65k invested. I don't see how you could stack 30k in motor and tranny for a SPF (unless it's a nascar grade SO with a jericho). I think almost any combo except for maybe the SO motor could be done in a SPF for under 55k. $15k can get you a stroked windsor with a tremec, or even a southern automotive built 428 and toploader from david kee all installed for @14-16k. But enough said, good luck to all those looking to sell and to all the buyers, do everyone a favor and look at cars that are in your current budget; don't test drive somebody's kirkham if you've got a 25k budget, just common courtesy. And if you do want to investigate the ERA or SPF if it's way outside your budget, go to the dealer or better still, go to a cobra event and check them out, most cobra owners are really friendly and happy to educate others, as long as its sincere. If a buyer starts yapping nonsense, or it's clear that they're just wasting the seller's time, don't be shocked if they get a little venmous. Only those that have sold a cobra can really appreciate what I am talking about!
