Want to buy a quality car............
Well I just finished the quarterly taxes and do believe that I still have the 'shirt on my back'....so,
Here's the situation: I want to buy a Cobra - this desire has been fermenting for some time now. I have a good local builder ready to prepare a new CR with a crate big block - all he needs is my nod - but before I do that I would like to see what might be available on the resale market. Here is my wish list: Quality manufacturer and quality builder. Big block Ford power - FE or crate. High end (performance-wise) suspension including IRS. Stretched body OK - I'm 6'2, 225#. Would like the car to be sorted out but not overly 'used'. I do not want to race - just pleasure drive. In order to keep a successful long-term marriage intact I can not spend more than 50k. What I would like to find is a top notch car that some one has considered selling but maybe not put on the market yet. A car that the owner wants more $$ for but would be willing to sell for my price (or less) if the car went to a good home, i.e., a good value for my money. The CobraCountry ERA in Lexington, KY that heads the For Sale list is a good example - unfortunately this car was sold yesterday. I am living in Columbus for the near term but reside in Seattle. All replys will be held in confidence. There is a relatively short fuse on this search so please respond if you think you have what I am looking for. Sorry - no partially completed kits (unless it is a complete package deal - including drive train - and too good to pass up). I can't even keep my car washed - so I can not image being able to finish a car (but.................). Thank you for your time gentlemen!! Ron Knowles ron.knowles@gte.net |

So many choices!
mrmustang,,,,,gee I hope it's OK if I throw my hat in the ring on this one. I know how picky you are about competition.
  Ernie |

Ron- I would scour CobraCountry.com. I think you will find a lot of cars for sale that meet your criteria. |
Re: So many choices!
Excaliber,
Here, in a free marketplace, absolutely, competition is good for business.   Chaplin, :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p rknowles, Cobra Country is a great place to look, as is Club Cobra, and even FFcobra dot com....All depends on what your budget is, and what the overall useage plan for the car is.....Good luck inb your hunt for that perfect Cobra...Sometimes thats half the fun..... I'm 6'6" and I sat in a bunch of cars before I bought one. You're 4" shorter but a little thicker :) so you may be comfortable in cars too short for me. Anyway, don't buy a car without sitting in a sample from that manufacturer first. And don't be in TOO much of a hurry-sure, easy for me to say! Good luck!

Don't forget Lone Star, they build a 94 inch chassis with 4 inch drop pans in the foot well and 4 inch at the seat.

Oh man..........
Well thanks for all the comments and propositions - I wil answer all the e-mails tonight or tomorrow night for sure.
Did I ever get my hand spanked by a few of the 'small block' guys - wow! Guess I should have included stroked 351's in the Wish List. Lowell W: "a little thicker" - what's that supposed to mean?? Massive chest, huge biceps, and rippling stomach muscles account for most of that weight..... (just having fun, of course). You guys are great - thanks. Ron K. |
Not sure how fast you want your Cobra but follow the link and take a look at this one. It looks like a real quality product and is complete for 46K brand spankin' new. Check it out. http://www.427cobras.com
Good luck in your search. :D |
well....for 15k you can get my unfinished kit that comes with everything but the clutch, battery, e-brake handle, and paint. if you have a builder standing by, this is the deal for you. All the 'hard' parts' (i.e. rear end, wheels/tires, brakes, steering rack, transmission, suspension, etc.) are top end units. i really need to sell this (about to be laid off from airline industry...see my 'MUST SELL' post). the car has all the right parts to handle just about any HP motor, and is in 'rolling frame' condition right now. All the car parts were gathered with the intention of dropping a 600+ HP motor in it....check my post and let me know if you want to save about 30k by finishing it yourself... Bowtie
