I do not understand. I am looking for and AC Cobra kit car and ran across a new Backdratf car on Collector car web site. It is brand new and they are selling it for $34,500. Can you help me understand? I bet the cost is in the engine.

Thanks
Doug

I sent you an e-mail also, but, in a nut shell I will guess your right (not knowing the engine you were looking at). Mine was built with all new racing hardware vs being a donor. It is also stroked and that too will add. Further, mine has a Tremec 5 speed that will go for more than the Ford tranny.

34,500 looks like a price for the 302 option.

Are you happy with the Backdraft car? I am thinking of having one built with the 302. Not sure it will be enough horse power. What do you think?

Enough horse power to do what? My basically stock 302 in my heavy Excalibur has "enough" horse power to induce "throttle over steer" on the race track with race tires! It will put the front end where the back end was SUPPOSED to be on the highway if your not paying attention. See my gallery for some "tire smoke" pics.

I been thinking about building in some more h.p.,,,,,,,,but not sure I need it "that bad". It's kinda nice to be able to just "drive" and not be "nervous" like I KNOW I would be with a BB.

I think it will at 1st and then seem underpowered latter. Like anything else, you get used to it and then look for more. That said, I would not advocate a big block, more power but more weight in front and therefore less then optimum handling. I've got an idea, buy mine. Give me a call and we can talk price. 520-529-2847. ( almost forgot-As for the car I'm impressed with the quality. It needed a little sorting out but thats all done and its very dependable)

I guess I've had mine sideways and backwards enough to satisfy that "need for speed" with more h.p.

I was kinda surprised at that. But I can tell you, not everybody "gets so used" to the h.p. they want more. I'm still thinking about "maybe" I need more, maybe I don't. And thats after a couple of years!

Excaliber is giving you some good advise and I agree with him 110%.
The 302 is more than enough in a Backdraft.
The Bimmer rear and suspension allows you to every thing that cute little 302 puts out to the ground. Sure not an all show, no go combo, if you know what I mean.

The rest of the Car is just simply great also!

Bud
