Default Kirkham 427 For Sale

427 S/C with only 511 miles. Aluminum bodied, McClusky blue, correct 427 sideoiler + toploader, can't tell the difference from an original. Done the right way and practically perfect, car needs nothing and was built with no expense spared. Not cheap, serious offers only, trades possible. Thanks

I have many pics for those who are serious, but I have no place to host them on the web. As for price I am not sure exactly what it is worth. I know that the Kirkham's just sold a roller, unpainted, on ebay for 61,000 something and you could put that much more into it to finish it. Going by that number I would have to say this car is worth something in the 90-100 range but that is why I am looking for offers and trying to judge people's interest. Thanks for the reply.

Red face Kirkham Price!

Correct me if I am wrong, but prices of real 427 CSX cars are now to the roof, I just saw one here in Southern California where the owner paid a cool $1/2 million. 260s' and 289s' are selling in the $200 to $250Ks' A nicely built Kirkham and McClusky is the best, should bring at least $100 to $120Ks'.

Any comment?

If you're willing to spend that much! Not like the market is exactly jumpin' right now.

Roller with proper diff and guages 48k
correct 427/top loader drive train 25k
assembly/paint and Misc 15k

The problem is finding one guy who wants exactly what you built, right when you want to sell it, with the cash, an angel for a wife, an extra space in the garage, and an insatiable obsession like you had when you spent all that money to make it perfect.

That being said, Ryans car looked great on the e-bay auction.

I was just at Barrett Jackson and I would say that the market is pretty strong right now for the "muscle car" , compared to years past. I also know that there was a strong interest in the "recreation cars" that Shelby had on display ...with complete cars going for well over the 100k mark? I think that someone who is considering a Kirkham and want to drive it in early spring would be a good candidate for a pratically new complete car...

Racerboy - Are you aware of the latest offering from the Kirkham's selling aluminum rollers in w/ diffs. in the area of 42K? They recently shocked everyone while also at latest count (15-20) sold quite a few aluminum bodied variations virtually overnight. Sounds like a great car but maybe not as valuable as it was in mid-December. Then again if you weren't aware of these "adjustments" maybe your buyer won't be either! Best wishes.

Tony, remember that in theory at least, that was a limited time offer.

Then there was the replica at Barret Jackson that sold for mid $20's, Contemporary, a very nice build. Dang I missed the Shelby vagas cars that sold for $100K plus. What were the specs on them?

The continuation cars were both on the auction block and in their exhibit booth...They ranged from 289's-427's to GT-350's and Eleanor copies.

I saw the Contemporary and it looked really good......from 10 feet away

Racerboy, good luck on your car. There is no doubt that the most desireable Cobras are the 427 aluminum body with a 427 engine. This seems to be what people are willing to pay the most for. With a car in the price range of yours some interesting trades may come your way. Although I am not in the market for another Cobra, I would love to see shots of your car if you post them.

It is difficult to draw parallels between original cars and non original cars when it comes to pricing. It's not that their isn't a relationship, but the buyers of these two marques are worlds apart; that is, their motivation for buying the cars that they do are quite different.

Another trouble with the pricing (reported selling number) of originals is that it is often times skewed upwards because of the unique history of a particular CSX. That isn't often communicated to the public, either, which gives an inflated view of the market, to some degree.

IMHO, $100,000 non original Cobras can be difficult sells, even with the great, great quality of a Kirkham. The air is pretty thin when you get to that level looking for buyers. I am not implying that the cars are not worth it, it just becomes a lot of money.

Then there was the "Shebly Cobra" (new) that sold for over $100k, but the announcers commented that $35k was for Shelby's autograph on the car's hood.

Kirkham cars are the Rolls Royces of Cobra replicas, but there is another very important factor! It's the person who put it together and painted it! Obviously if McClusky assembled it, the car will be worth a lot more!

This particular car (..which is really nice, BTW) was shipped at a high-degree of completion from Kirkham; it was painted by McCluskey.
