What I know:

351W (I think he said '74 vintage), B&M shifter, C6 trans (also included is a BW T10), has Jag rear, not sure about front (not sure about year of Unique manufacture). Contact owner, Jim Sieja, at : James.P.Sieja@nasa.gov

JWheaton 10-27-2003 06:28 AM

This car has been for sale since I started the CObra quest. EIGHT YEARS AGO --- arrrgghhh another story ---- Plenty of people here who have the ability to finish an unfinished car and would have picked this up if there was not something wrong.

Since it is not a complete vehicle ask the seller if he has the manufacturers certificate of origin. I beleive that is one reason that it has not sold from previous threads on the car.

mgreene 10-27-2003 06:34 AM

Actually, not completely true - Jim Sieja bought the car in March of this year from the guy in Kentucky. He's just decided that he doesn't have the time or resources to finish it.

JoeLafives 10-27-2003 06:49 AM

The guy in Kentucky was the guy that had it up for sale for so long. Apparently he had some beef with Unique.

bomelia 10-27-2003 08:17 PM

I don't get it

Why is mgreene advertising this instead of Jim S.?

Just doing him a favor - don't think he knows about this forum ;)

750hp 10-28-2003 04:55 AM

There'd have to be at least $16K worth of parts alone wouldn't there?

Is this the infamous "Spence" car? If so the chassis is,,,well,,,suspect.

bomelia 11-03-2003 05:11 AM

This may be. I spoke with the owner on the phone and he swears there has been no hacking of the frame, that it came from the factory with a C6 crossarm. He did comment that there was no real rear suspension...is that what you are talking about?

Personally, I would like to hear the "rest of the story".

CowtownCobra, could you enlighten us?

Mike

CowtownCobra 11-03-2003 06:30 AM

Do a search here on CC of "Spence".

bomelia 11-03-2003 07:04 AM

Ooooh. Ouch!

Looks like the guy did not do his research before buying it. Thats too bad.

Mike

Excaliber 11-03-2003 07:42 AM

I like the steering wheel, just needs a center piece and that parts done.............

If you were to "part out the car" you would be lucky to recover more than $5,000 dollars, MAX!

The used motor and tranny would be worth a few hundred (or less) at best. The "body" possibly $2,000? Jag rear ends can be be found for a few hundred dollars. You MIGHT be able to sell the frame for "something", but thats a long shot. The MGB suspension is basically worth "zero".

If the car does not have an MSO your totally screwed. The only hope for this car is to NOT part it out! It must be sold "as is" to recover any funds. Value? To me, ZERO. It would cost more to finish the build than you could buy a completed car for in the current market.

Bomelia,

Did you get a chance to go by and look at the car yet?

Stay Away!!!

Excaliber;

I've too have seen this "Cobra" on the market forever.

I personally think you are being too kind. This is one to walk away from as quickly as you can and get as far away from as possiable, before... and, if there is no MSO it has no value at all. Sorry, it truth hurts. :(

BB427 11-06-2003 04:39 AM

The car is sold to a guy in Wisconsin.

Lets hope it gets what it needs and does not show up for sale again.

Brent
