Guess he didn't like the tax bill?

Shame. Had I won it, there would NOT be a resale!

Check out the cars for sale from Cherner Automotive on the link above. A shelby cobra for under 50 and a gt40 for under 85. Notice not one word to tell you that both these cars are replicas!

He could save on taxes by donating it back to the Jenny Fund to raffle again next year.

Jenny is a young girl with Cystic Fibrosis. The Double Venom Spring Fling is a spring get together that last year had 100's of Cobra's in London Ohio for a weekend event to raise money for Jenny. They raised > $100k including raffle tickets for this car.

While everyone that bought a ticket in the raffle should have as much chance as the next guy, wouldn't it have been nice if it went to someone that could have kept it and appreciated the whole reason for the car's existence. I hope the new buyer is told about the history of the car, and how it helped raise a significant amount of money for Team Jenny / CF.

There are actually 2 Kirkham's in Hemmings. One is a very nice 427 painted McClusky blue.

Fella's, not my place to really expound on Jenny's car, but I do want to tell you the winner and I have discussed the resale of his car.

Everyone is familiar with our present economy and know that thousands and thousands of people have been laid off from their jobs, some permanently. The winner has had to make some very hard decisions and selling the Jenny car is just one of them. I wish he and his family well. Now if only I could afford to buy it back.

Future owner, who ever you are. Take good care of Jenny, she is a very, very special Cobra.

DV...I, (we) have been very lucky to be involved with this car. To me it has to be one of the most famous Kirkhams ever made.

I believe the 427 on Hemmings is an early Kirkham, now with the second owner. The car is spectactular and very, very accurate...painted by Mike McCluskey.

Just curious... what were the tax ramifications of winning Jenny's Car - lot's of rumors were spinning around during the DVSFIII.

It was my guess that since all the items to build the car, including time were donated, (talk about generosity!), and that the raffle had a tax-exempt charity status, that there would be no taxes to the winner.

But as usual, I am probably wrong... any tax advisors out there?

- Dan
