original
I know what an original is.
But whats the difference if the body and all is original 65 just assembled in 02?
If you had a picasso painting
would you care when he signed it?
And after the This great man Is no longer around Does it make it worth any less?
Or should I just scrap the car?,I hear aluminum is bringing .40 a pound.
none the less I will be at least fortunate enough to offer you guys the 2006 model if thats going to be more desirable.
Thanks,
whats on second.

Paul,
The body, chassis , instruments, wiring , windsheild and much more of that car is not fabricated or manufactured in th 60's....
4000series cars are beautiful examples of the 427....
....what are we offering for this car.....???...

trust
I'm not asking you to sink your life savings into dot com stock or enron or even candidate kerry those are the real crooks! I am simply taking your advice(some good some bad) but free.
I've learned more about cobra's in the last 12 hours than I have in my entire life. How can I have broken your trust when it was never at risk in the first place?

Does that mean it's a continuation car?

Paul...CSX4289 (alum) is a current production car from SA, sold thru one of their dealers.
The alum body and frame are current manufactured items, made by Kirkham Motorsports.
This is a standard up-to-date car. The engine may indeed be a sixties-vintage block, like so many of us have used for 'authenticity'..
...that may be where the 'story' you were told about the car came from... nothing about the body or chassis is from 1965.
It's from Poland! ..and probably made in the last year or two.
Bottom line.. it is a top-notch replica made by Shelby.
...but it can't be called 'original'...and that's where the local heat here has been coming from.
Good luck in selling it.... post some pics

KK...we've been had here.
I suspect he'll come back and tell you that what you said may be true for most CSX 4xxx cars, but this one is different.....it really is all original parts that Old Shel had lying around.

Paul,
Its the middle of winter .....we are getting a little bored and irritable sometimes.........occasionally some one walks in with a story like yours and we will over react ........this is NOT one of those times....
There is at least a $200,000 difference in the value of the car in your first post,.. compared to the one you are now talking about...!
In light of that , every one is doing their best to be nice....
now ,...where do we start the opening bid....???....

Well there could be a good chance that the car is not a Kirkham...they were some hand made continuation cars made correct? And I believe you can still get the hand done body from Shelby if you want to pay for it.
Paul I don't think anyone is trying to be negative it just gets peoples dander up with this whole real vs replica vs original thing.
And yes you will pay alot less for a continuation car done in 2000 than you will an original 65'. The 289's go for around $200K and the 427's (Non comp) are in the $300's the last time I checked.
Correct me here guys if I am wrong.
Oh buy the way your csx4000 is probably somewhere in the $120 range.
Matt

1965 original 427 cobra signed by carroll shelby
This car sat in carroll's warehouse since 1965
then he was kind enough to put it together and let us showcase it in our dealership. It has all documentation and 65 title.
car is for sale serious inquiries only please.
|
I'm still concerned with the original post.
A dealer should do HIS homework before misrepresenting a car he is selling.
The 'sitting in the warehouse' bit has me pissed off along with much of his follow up commentary.

Precisely John. It was that coupled with his apparent lack of listening ability. But the icing for me was that gem, "If you have an original Picasso, who cares when he signed it."
I'd be somewhat concerned if he signed it in 2002.
